Forums - Gaming - Xbox1 backward compatilibity just dropped a deuce on PS Now.

Meh, it's a cool feature for those who will use it. I know i only used the BC on my PS3, for the first few months, until i had enough PS3 games to keep me busy.

While I agree that PS Now is indeed something that's a strategy for the future,as of this current time frame with XB1 now getting 360 backwards compatibility, its now in a sticky situation because its not really a good value anymore and doesnt have a big purpose anymore at this point in time in the generation. Now it looks like a rip off after Microsofts announcement. But in the future that prob wont be true once its fleshed out for future projects down the line

Also for the service itself, I've tried a few games on PS Now and they actually run rather smooth and its never been really pixelated. The service runs very smooth for me and i dont disconnect or lose connection when on it. So its very stable

Saying PS Now looks like a rip off of BC is like saying Netflix looks like a rip off of DVDs.

They aren't the same thing.

I could careless about either one.I want NEW games built for the console.Hopefully that is Sony's focus unlike Ms.

Agreed! Why would I want to play last gen games on my new console? Furthermore, why would I buy a new console because I'm excited to buy games that I can buy on a console that's a fraction of the cost?

MS did announce "NEW" games as well, don't know what he's talking about. I still have my xbox 360 and I am very excited for the feature for two reasons:

I can now play them with arguably the best controller ever made.

I don't have to pull out my x360 to enjoy my last gen library.

The list of games that can be played is short at the moment, but it will grow. And the fact they mentioned my digital games will just start showing up in my Xbox One library is freaking awesome.

I just do not believe that Sony ever intended for PSNow to be an answer to backwards compatibility. I do not even believe they intend for it to target PS3 or PS4 gamers. I think the target was always going to be those that do not own either console that they can access through secondary devices. It will be available soon on Samsung T.V.s which, given their market share, will be huge. All kinds of other devices will follow and I believe that is and always has been their target demographic. I have tried the service a couple of times and was very impressed with how it worked.

This was a great move by Microsoft but I do not think one has to do with the other necessarily. I would love to see Sony do the same and bring backwards compatibility to the PS4. Unfortunately I do not see that happening. I do not see PSNow as being the reason why, though.

It does imo

Sony charging you for bakwards compatibility,Microsoft giving it to you for free

Paying for something that's free from another company, that can be seen as a rip off when looked at it from that perspective

I'm interested to seeing PS Now long term because its clear that's Sony's plan for the future

Re-read her post she wasn't saying it was a copy... She was saying that in her opinion the value of PS Now is low when compared to the BC.

I don't get the point. Just don't throw away/sell for 20 bucks your consoles and you don't need backward compatibility.

Also psnow is far more the backwards compatibility. I have no use for this service either, though.

I gave my 360 to one of my cousins and was just talking to a friend the other day when discussing ESO that id love to play through Fallout 3 and NV again especially since you can buy the Ultimate versions of each for $15. Even if i still owned the 360 it would be a lot of clutter keeping it hooked up and keeping controllers around.

Plus i am used to the much faster OS of the Xbox One, and you can use the perks of the Xbone OS with 360 games.

Lastly, these consoles have had huge droughts some times between big games. Now I could fill those in with other games. For example i barely touched Gears 2 and 3 SP. After I play the Ultimate version of Gears, maybe down the line I buy Gears 2 and 3 for dirt cheap to plow through those beforr Gears 4?

Its a great feature and instantly adds hundreds and hundreds of titles to the library that the competition doesnt have.

Next time don't give away your console. Also it takes what, 30 less seconds to boot a game on xbone compared to 360 ? Except if your play sessions of 5 minutes on homconsoles, that won't change much.

Finally it doesn't add tons of games. It recycles tons of games you're supposed to already be able to play. When ffXV comes out, i can play ffvii->XIII if i want before the release, i won't need backward compatibility for that.

Even as a PS fan, I was impressed with Xbox1 backward compatibility.  The PS Now is so anti-consumer, and I hate it.  You have to pay premium for a somewhat laggy, pixelated version of last-gen games regardless if you already owned that PS3 game.  I realize the PS3 is a completely different architecture from PS4, so it would be much more difficult for PS4 to have backward compatibility.  But Sony needs to respond to this.  At least give free PS Now on PS4 for games already owned on PS3.

It's only, like, 18 games. Compared to PSNow's, what, 150+?
