I just do not believe that Sony ever intended for PSNow to be an answer to backwards compatibility. I do not even believe they intend for it to target PS3 or PS4 gamers. I think the target was always going to be those that do not own either console that they can access through secondary devices. It will be available soon on Samsung T.V.s which, given their market share, will be huge. All kinds of other devices will follow and I believe that is and always has been their target demographic. I have tried the service a couple of times and was very impressed with how it worked.
This was a great move by Microsoft but I do not think one has to do with the other necessarily. I would love to see Sony do the same and bring backwards compatibility to the PS4. Unfortunately I do not see that happening. I do not see PSNow as being the reason why, though.
