By giving us PS1 and PS2. Throw in PSP for good measure. Not Ps3 please..it's the least necessary BC.

As some have said already, PSNow is not just a service to enable PS3 games on PS4. It's across other Sony platforms as well and it entails so much more.
However I do agree that it would be good for Sony to answer to M$, and they can use PSNow to help them answer for the short term.
e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)
I could careless about either one.I want NEW games built for the console.Hopefully that is Sony's focus unlike Ms.
When Xbox 4 comes out, is it going to be backwards compatible for two generations?
With PS Now, when you get to PS6, you will still be able to go back five generations. It's a good move for MS, but to say it dumps over PS Now is ridiculous.
I agree, what sony should do is make it a yearly subciption to all games, like PS+; $50(or whatever they price it at) a year to access all game on PS Now
| spemanig said: Lol, no it hasn't. PS Now is building a platform. BC only helps the XBO short term. PS Now is a long term strategy. |
But this is free...
| bevochan said: Even as a PS fan, I was impressed with Xbox1 backward compatibility. The PS Now is so anti-consumer, and I hate it. You have to pay premium for a somewhat laggy, pixelated version of last-gen games regardless if you already owned that PS3 game. I realize the PS3 is a completely different architecture from PS4, so it would be much more difficult for PS4 to have backward compatibility. But Sony needs to respond to this. At least give free PS Now on PS4 for games already owned on PS3. |
Actually it's not that difficult. Do it the same way X1 one did. If you PS4 reads a PS3 disc, you have access to the digital version.
It's currently in use now with some games where you pay a small amount to upgrade to the PS4 version (eg Battlefield), it downloads the digital PS4 version but you have to have the PS3 disc in to play it.

I know right.
They could at least add PS one compatibility, I mean how hard would that be?
I wonder how effective this will be in terms of getting X1 sales. We are 2 years in to gen 8, gen has taken over gen 7 in terms of software sales and you are targeting the 360 audience where the more than less will upgrade to X1 anyway.
From a gamers pov though, it's great.
