Forums - Microsoft - How the Oculus Rift Could Help Xbox Crush PlayStation

Don't know about that, but it may make things a bit more interesting. It depends on how well Project Morpheus goes. And even if that fails, I don't think Oculus will give MS that big of a push. Then again, Wii came out of nowhere...

8 ball corner pocket.

I have a feeling even if sales were skewed 100 million to 25 million in Sony's favor we would still see ridiculous articles like this.

Not forgetting the huge issue that the xbone design is even less suited to compete with PS4 for VR than 1 display graphics. That 32MB of embedded memory and the weaker gpu are constraints to creating 2 simultaneous displays.

Lets face it even the PS4 is weak in this regard compared to PC and Morpheus will have weaker graphics than typical ps4 games but xbone will drop even further from an already weaker position. Xbone is not realistic base hardware for a competitive VR experience.

But it might kill Oculus Rift

^ more likely.

Sonys Morph looks sooo much better in demos than what MS showed there.

If I was Oculus Rift Id be p*ssed off MS did a poor demo like that.

That just looks.....pointless.

Instead of playing the game on my TV, I'll put this plastic box on my head, and play the game on my virtual TV.

Yes, Sony is truly in trouble....as if their TV division was not suffering already, sales will completely stall now that we can game on virtual TVs.

Would this be any different then streaming your PS4 games to your Vita or playing your WiiU games on the tablet.  Without seeing how the games actually run streamed to the OR, its hard to say its a better experience or just a nice addition when the TV is being hogged by your kids or wife.

Haha, that was an embarrassingly written article. At this point, I think speculating that VR is going to be anything more than just an expensive fad is somewhat far fetched. Speculating that Microsoft's partnership with Oculus will single-handedly turn the tide of the console war in their favour is just asinine.

yeah, when i first read the partnership announcement i thought it sounded great.  ..but after seeing this i take it back.  this is almost worse than no support,.. this is confusing and that's not a good thing for a product that has a big advertising problem.

That looked...horrible and unnecessary. Why would you want to play a VR of you playing a game exactly the same way you're actually playing it? That's just stupid.

OR was already killed by Facebook. Why is MS beating a dead horse? Seriously, it ain't got no chance against Morpheus on consoles and it will fail against Vive on PC. Imo. :P
