Interesting. Was Bayo 2 profitable? It might have been if they are considering another exclusive for the Wii U.

It took PG five years to make the game, so probably not.

Yeah plus it sold poorly, so you're probably right. I wonder why they'd consider making another exclusive for the console then?

Money makes the world go round I guess.. heh.
On the plus side, as long as it keeps Platinum Games afloat; so they can keep pumping out quality games.. All is well. Though, it does make you wonder what Nintendo are thinking about PG for future titles. Especially after the poor sales of both W101 and Bayo 2.
If a Wii U exclusive, it'll probably be an existing Nintendo IP. Platinum's greatest weakness is that they don't typically make games that sell a lot. The original Bayonetta was their best-seller of all time and still only sold about 2 million across two platforms. After Bayonetta 2 and Wonderful 101, I can easily imagine Nintendo trusting them with a valued name and Platinum looking for a partnership with Nintendo.
As for what Platinum could be working on, Star Fox is a relatively obvious choice, considering how little of that game has been shown and the interest Kamiya has shown in making a Star Fox game. That would resemble how just last year, Nintendo worked with Namco for SSB4.
Besides Star Fox, I think Platinum could be working on a Kid Icarus game. Seriously. With Uprising, Nintendo showed that they were willing to turn Kid Icarus into an action/shooter game rather than an action-platformer. Uprising's ground combat and most of its bosses were based around a combination of fast-paced ranged and melee attacks with a wide variety of weapons. I could easily imagine Platinum making a game like this for the Wii U, possibly including ideas from Vanquish.

This is basically my dream game ever since I finished Uprising and Revengeance, and saw enough of W101 to know they could nail the tone as well.

Nintendo footed the bill for Bayo 2 so it doesn't really matter to Platinum Games if the game was profitable or not. They may have gotten bonuses if it sold better, but that would have been bonuses.
What if its a game based on Jeanne? She is always wearing red.
Y'know with Konami jumping the shark, maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea perhaps if Nintendo moved in on the Metal Gear franchise and started getting their own line of Metal Gear games for their platforms with Platinum as the developer.
At least the Metal Gear IP carries some decent catchet still, moreso than something like Wonderful 102 would, which lets be honest ... that would sell like 70,000 copies and then never be heard from again.
I remenber that on the video of the making of of bayonetta 2, the guy fro SPD teased something at the end.
"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."
