It's not so much a series for Nintendo as it is a series for the lowest common denominator. Capcom is trying like crazy to avoid updating these PS2 graphics.

I think it is a "benefit" but the reason.

CAP has positioned MH as a kids franchise. They know eventually they'll lose the original fans and have already positioned MH in a way they get replaced by younger fans.

as much as I would love Monster Hunter on PS4

I think Nintendo has this franchise on lock especially since MH4 is the fastest selling MH and shipped 1 million in the West in 1 month.

It would be nice if we get a another Monster Hunter Frontier 2 or something on PS4.

I don't think any future Monster Hunter games will sell to their full potential...
As soon as one MonHun game releases, Capcom is ready to announce the next one...

Well to be fair, I don't think it should be on the Wii U either. However lets be honest a new Monster Hunter game.... on the Wii U...that is laughable.

They didn't go to Xbox when Frontier made it on the platform or PS3 when 3rd was ported to it, the series also started out on consoles and nearly died and that was on the PS2, ironically the best selling console games are the Wii and Wii U games with the Wii game being the top seller of the console games.

It's a mainline game, it crosses over all the highlights of the previous 4 gens of MH.

Asking for a Twilight Princess remake to be on the Wii U instead of 3DS is slightly different from asking for it to be on the PS4.

Since the Monster Hunter franchise isn't Nintendos I don't see how this is even remotely the same thing. Especially since the main argument being made is that the game has found its home on handhelds and that console development would be way too expensive.

I am not saying that this game looks bad on 3DS, but it would have much more potential on PS4. 

That goes for all handheld games I would think. They would be better on home consoles but you have to show some handhelds love while they are still here!
