Most of the electronic stores in my town usually don't have Wii U games at launch and I have to go to game stores to find them. For Splatoon, most of them had a bit of stock. One of the shop keeper told me they had quite a lot of preorder for it as well, I couldn't find the Amiibo version anywhere

Sounds like it's had a great start, which is excellent. Pretty glad that I decided to take the plunge myself and can understand where the hype came from.

And above all else, it's good to see a new IP doing so well.

In Japan the retailers dictate the size of shipments because they can't return unsold games to the publisher. So it's lack of confidence on the retailers' part, although it has to be said that an initial shipment of 150k copies is already a big number. The hype is real, Noble.
