Yeah, that's what marketing can do. If Nintendo did this more rather than rely on games to market themselves it would be great.

It's hard not to wonder how other titles might have sold had they been properly marketed...

Looking at this, i would say Nintendo will announce some official Splatoon numbers before E3. They need good PR when they can get it.

If it pulls near 200k in Japan, Splatoon might get near to that 1 million in a month.

Edit: Although, 80% is pretty high for the type of game that Splatoon is and who it's marketed to.

Where is that figure from?

OT: Seems like most first week copies went to pre-orders, but we don't know any exact figures for anything. FW Japan sales should be well above 100k, probably closer to 150k, I think this is the region where it will have the best FW of them all. EU won't show the same enthusiasm and the game costs a lot more in the US.
