Exactly! Besides, people lie about themselves on the internet all the time; including their gender. Sometimes we have no idea whether or not a virtual person is a boy or a girl.

But that's beside the point. Gender or race do not matter; they shouldn't even be looked at when considering. A good mod = a good mod.

You know it. The only important thing is how well the person can do the job; and what they can bring to the team. Anything else is unimportant and I'd imagine won't be considering (it wasn't before) because the question is "Will this user be a good moderator?". If the answer to that after looking at your application is "Yes", then that's all that matters. Gender in particular has no place in moderation, nor does race or a whole heap of other stuff.

I thought about saying such things in my application to raise my chances, but dismissed the idea because it would most likely convey that I am not taking it seriously at all.

We're yet to start debating the applications, but I am pretty sure the first subject when yours is considered will be "do we actually believe this isn't just a joke?"
