It's gonna be cray. I mean, we've just scratched the surface of Gen 8 and I already think it looks fantastic.

While I agree it looks great, I reckon we've more than scratched the surface. I'm not expecting major improvements from here onwards.

B.b...but 4D!!!! I WANT 4D!!!!!

Naah jk you're probably right. I really don't know what developers will be able to push out beyond what we have seen in development now

I certainly don't expect a huge evolution like we saw in Gen 7, but I think certain things will see improvements.

I mean, just look at Wii U. The change from New Super Mario Bros. U to Mario Kart 8 and Bayonetta 2 to games like Xenoblade Chronicles X and Yoshi's Woolly World is insane. I don't think the XBO and PS4 will see such a dramatic growth as that (due to them already being so powerful and the developers being used to HD development) but it should at least get slightly better.

Don't get me wrong; there will be improvement, of course. There already has been. As you say though, I just don't think it will be as dramatic as last gen.

Every new gen

Fifth gen even though ugly had a fuck ton of personality, I swear that every single game of that generation had it own style and way of being, I mean, anything from the text font to the music to the overall art style to the amount/lack of polygons in each game made them feel completely unique from one another, that gen was completely and utterly badass.

I'll go with PS2/Gamecube/Xbox .

As far as the generation that wowed me the most, I'm gonna say Gen 7. I still have my mind blown when I played Gears of War for the first time.

Those Gen 1 graphics though... When I put stickers on my TV screen and watch the Magnovox Odyssey's little white square move around, that is just next level entirely... I don't think even Naughty Dog could compete with that.

6th gen - games look great yet simple and clean allowing you to concentrate on the gameplay. I remember in mid to late 2000 modern games had started having too much detail distracting me from actually playing them. I still don't like how in triple A games usually every square meter is filled with junk.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

7 and 8. MGS4 was my first PS3 game and my jaw was floored.

8th gen, just look at Killzone shadow fall, (the announcement gameplaytrailer) Driveclub, The Order and just imagine the new Ratchet and Clank. Mario kart 8, Ryse and Forza horizon look great too
