@The Fury... thanks for that link.

It seems that for the most part the Wii was only in stock at normal price last week on Amazon...... it was in stock from tuesday till the end of the reporting week for £180.

There were very few other places where it was £180.
In John Lewis they had a £180 option available for about 4 days.
In Wilkinson they had it £10 cheaper (but who the hell buys consoles from Wilkinson?) but it was only available for 18 hours.
Tesco has the £180 option but it wasn't in stock last week.

The rest of the places doing £180 options I have never heard of.

You should all note that these are only the online stores for these places (I think the only exception is argos, though it wasn't available much last week, and the cheapest seems to be £250 [PS3 retails between £280 and £300])

Game and Gamestation do seem to have had stock for the past 10-15 days (online at least) though you still seem to have to buy at least 1 set game with it. and the more available options have 2 or 3 games bundled.

--------------
If you want my anecdotal evidence, then I did check one Game last week which had no stock in store (though it was Dewsbury so only a small branch) but there was no stock in two of my nearest Comets nor three PC worlds... I will admit there are no stock shortages when there is finally stock in those types of places (Supermarkets too) as well as gaming stores.

Honestly people, please calm down and read this post.

There are a lot of things you have to take into account here. First of all, the Playstation 3 sells better in Europe now, a lot better actually. I was quite sure this would happen, though as the Playstation brand was always huge in Europe and Nintendo never was the leading force over here.

On the other hand - please, don´t be so childish. Some users seem to forget we are talking about Europe - hello, Europe? A damn lot of individaul countries, each having its own language, where it is not possible to meet demand just like in the US?

I hope everyone realises that a lot of UK stock doesn´t mean France and Germany are getting shipments, too.

Oh and by the way, Nintendo can divert shipments, they can plan such things weeks prior...

I´m sorry but there is nothing like PS3 domination and the Playstation 3 isn´t dominating in Europe, regardless which way you look at it. Maybe the Playstation 3 will overtake the Wii at some point in Europe but even then I´d laugh at everybody that sounded like a little child, declaring "Playstation 3 domination officially started" or something.

But it is selling good now, it really is. Just don´t make this victory a ridiculous teen party. Some people really need to grow up, no matter if they talk about Wii "domination" or Playstation 3 "domination". That´s no war, people, that´s business. I really keep on asking myself if I should really buy a Playstation 3 everytime I see such comments.

Oh and one last note: Consoles see better sales if a new game is released for them. Why do you expect the Wii to be outsold by the Playstation 3 if Mario Kart, Wii Fit and Brawl will all see a release in the next 4 months while the Playstation 3 will "only" see the release of Metal Gear Solid 4? I will buy a Playstation 3 for this game but I´m quite sure more people will buy a Wii for the games mentioned above.

This post is not for the many people who are discussing the topic with facts, of course. Just for the minority of people who start overreacting everytime.... anything happens in the videogame world. This goes for some Wii fans as well, of course: Grow up, people. This is a site about facts not the dreams of some crazzyman... errr men.

I do believe Europe is the best place for a two console leadership due to it's diversity, I do think The Sources article wis pretty close to the truth in terms of what will happen (ie Wii leading in sales over all (by 2012 anyway) but PS3 not really that far behind (I think it was 20% in the article... so maybe 35 million Wii to 28 million PS3)

If the PS3 manages to make a trend out of this then it may swap those number around, which once again stops Nintendo having it's first "No1" in Europe (perhaps if they stop f^*"ing us around in the future) but The Wii is still destined to be the most successfull Nintendo product in Europe (possibly barring the GameBoy when it is seperate from the GBC)

It's cool.  I'd reply on Hardware section but thought here as well.

I just went on a hunt on my lunch (yeah my lunch is that boring usually):

Zavvi.co.uk have it in stock (infact someone was buying one as I was in there).

Dixons which for weeks had a 'not in stock' sign up, this is no longer up (saold out of DS though).

Gamestation and Game have it apparently, as well as Forbidden Planet. Most placesother then these have normal £180 option.

Here's a nice little bit of figures though, Argos has a 'Stock Checker' in stores. I visited the largest of the chain in Notts city centre. They have about 40 360s (this is Arcade+Pro+Elites), 8 PS3s and 13 Wiis.

In the UK the Wii sold only 1000 more then the PS.

Hmm, pie.

Which article was that? I remember the "Europe in 2008" article but that was my own and I don´t think he changed it. Or are you talking about his latest one?

Yeah , the PS3 is selling well , but the Wii is probably sold out ...

Is there a link to the amazon.co.uk "out of stock" history for the Wii. I just checked and it's out of stock right now. :(

Anybody got the link to the history?

It must've just gone out of stock then. As people have been saying it was in stock all last week which tallies with these numbers and was still in stock when I looked earlier today.

Ok, there is a site that tells when Wii's were in stock on Amazon.co.uk, and for excatly how long.

What people have been "saying" is inconsequential.

I would love to see that link, I don't believe that suddenly "there are no more supply constraints in europe." Very doubtful, imo, but who am I to say.

So you believe it if someone writes it on a site but not if someone tells you? Ok... www.wii-consoles.co.uk has stock history and that's what we're using to tell you the info that you're rejecting.

I'm telling you the Wii is back in stock on Amazon UK. And here's a picture as you have an issue with believing what people tell you:

Amazon are putting them up in tiny batches (god knows why) so it goes in and out of stock many many times each day but has been in stock every day in the period covered by the sales data.

@Louie, yes his latest one... On partIV I was discussing with kuraobi about how the PS3 is comparible to PS2 in Europe even if it isn't in America or Japan.

@The Fury, I'm not saying the Wii is totally sold out in UK like before, I can see that easily... but the stock still isn't up to the same levels the PS3 or 360 have.

Wii has been instock on amazon UK for most of last week, athough now it is second to GTA IV (PS3)
