Forums - Nintendo - XCX new biggest Nintendo game at 22.7GB

Just imagine 1 console gen from now where we'll be playing New Super Xenoblade Chronicles XX Blue Edition with a 100 gb download.

bet: lost

My second (new game plus) playthrough of Xenoblade Wii, with no sidequests or grinding, took me over 30 hours.

My original playthrough took 89.

Hmm, not bad. Though nowadays it doesn't really mean a lot.

They are also waaaaay smaller in content and world size.

HD cutscenes takes up so much space.

My cousin plays NBA 2K15 on PS4.  The game is something like 40GBs and takes absolutely ages to boot up.  There are no "HD cutscenes".

Was it ever revealed what Monolith Soft and Nintendo were working on in order to get the game to run smoother on a disk? You guys remember about a month ago there was a lot of discussion about how Monolith Soft was working on some "fix" or "feature" to get the game to run faster if you play it on a disk? People were speculating it was the ability to download some sections of the game from the disk onto the Wii U's hard drive. But I don't think Monolith has ever clarified what they were talking about.

No they haven't. The popular rumor is as you suggest, but nothing has been confirmed yet. I wouldn't be surprised if its true.

So are we mad that its too big? Or that its not big enough? There are too many varied opinions. Either way I plan on buying it digital.

O_o

It doesn't?

I assume the Japanese version, which is the file size shown here, only has a Japanese language track.

The first game, however, had both English and Japanese tracks in its Western release.

Which is why I would be saddened if it didn't. I've been playing through it with JP voice acting.

I still can't believe that Wii U doesn't have a dual layered Blu-Ray drive

We don't know if it does or doesn't.  The drive and discs come from Panasonic (as have all of Nintendo's disc systems) who not only make dual layer discs and drives but several layer systems.  All we do know is that no game is using more than 1 layer and that's likely a cost factor rather than mechanical/firmware factor.

The spec sheet says it only supports single layered discs. I don't think Nintendo is going to try and change that since they are the kings of compression.
