They look better than the generic stuff you posted.

Anyway, if there's one game that has a barren, lifeless city it's Infamous Second Son.

But we're not talking about prettiness or whats less generic, we're talking about file sizes and the amount of unique assets and the texture quality of those assets :/

And loool @ you calling the City in Infamous lifeless in Xenoblade thread.  I'll leave this here, but clearly your too emotionally invested to have a discussion on the topic.

You'd have a point if the city was the only area you visited in xenoblade chronicles x. But alas, you don't.

You do realize xbx has a bigger overworld than all the games you mentioned combined (and then double that number)?

The point was irony but let me not derail this thread....

Dragon Age Inquision is 25.5GB on my PC. Thats with tons of audio, a fairly large world and higher res textures soooo.

So maybe Nintendo's "magical compression" still exists, because Monolith Soft is the one that made XCX, not Nintendo.

It doesn´t the system doesn´t require or better said can´t handle super high res textures, games like skyrim, gta v, fallout 3, fallout new vegas, the witcher 2 and from software games are not any less impressive on compression. Thereby a huge download mostly means better audio and better high res textures and quality cutscenes. I don´t see any problem with big game files as long as you buy the disc. (which is installed on my ps4 in like 10-20 seconds, xbone probably has the same required install time, which is bare to nothing)

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

I thought it was known how big the game would be

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Yeah, I remember reading somewhere that they almost put this game on two discs..

I'll be getting the physical copy so I won't have to worry about space :P

Draw distance.   Neither of your comparative games have anything like the draw distance of the Xenoblade games.   And it is this draw distance that dictates the asset density of terrain.  Not even the PS4 could render Xenoblade's draw distance with Infamous: Second Son's asset density.

You are correct about texture resolution in general.  But the further you draw, the more sparse your terrain has to become to comepnsate or else you'll have pop in or fog or other LOD tricks.

Look at AC games.  At some point, actual rendering stops and then blurry backdrops are added because the asset density isn't possible at full draw distance.

That was kind of the whole point of the post, game scale =/= storage size. Small dense environment with a high number of unique assets will take up more storage then a large sparse environment.

huge but after downloading last of us on my ps4 that was 50 gigs I wont even complain

I wonder why the Wii U doesn't support dual-layered "proprietary" Blu-rays. Or does it?

So this debunks the theory of Nintendo having magical compression. It all comes down to the type of game

Or this game would be 60 GB on other hands, How can we know?

This game is waaaay bigger than all those 50GB games lately.

Now that you mentioned tis, I preordered Witcher 3 digitaly, thats gona suck to donwload... I doubt that will be smaler than 60 or so GB.

Not too surprising given the supposed 200 hours of content

No...did you say 200hrs? I'm sold, I need something on U that you can't beat in a day.
