Forums - Gaming - Angry Joe Vargas Pulls Mario Party 10 WHY ?

I never understand why people complain when developers of games who actually spend millions on games wants a small slice of the ad revenue. It's their IP.

"But its free advertising" But it is at the end of the day the publisher and developers choice. I can't just stream half of the harry potter movie and say its free advertising, I wasnt hired to advertise it

"People watch for the likeness" And you use their characters and IP's also, so what? How would you like it if someone took a picture of you and sold it for lots of money. They made money off you...

Basically, dont complain if the dev for some reason isnt happy with you making money off an IP they actually financially risked to create. Some accept it, some are indifferent to it, as is their right to be.

There is a sense of entitlement here. You could certainly argue that Nintendo is foolish to prevent youtubers from posting videos of their games (and I certainly would argue that), but there is no reason to actually be angry about it. They made their policy quite clear, before he bought games or controllers and what not. Furthermore, he didn't pay for the right to share their content online, he paid for the right to use those games and peripherals. He acts like Nintendo went to his house and smashed his stuff.

As much as I think Nintendo SHOULD allow people to youtube their stuff, that doesn't give you the right to bitch that Nintendo is enforcing copy right laws.

good rant. It speaks the truth and Joe did do it on purpose. It was a great setup and he didn't even have to buy the console to do it. Its freaking brilliant.

And I didn't know about that setup. He should have gotten someone's advise to for that. Buying expensive looking parts sounds stupid for a big youtuber. I think it was a real bone head move that he quit his job fultime to do this, I mean youtube money is great but at least have safety net. And what really annoying too is when he rarely uploads but when he does it's for a angry rant crying about something that's affecting him and begging the "angry army" for help. And speaking of the angry army all he does is sit there and play games with them and even call it "army training" like wtf? lol

See for myself I always wanted to do streaming as a thing, not for money though but just to see what would happen, it would certainly make me less weary of crowds for sure but I know I can't stream because my island sucks when it comes to upload speed so streaming is out of the question along with youtube uploads.

In Joe's situation I would have at least kept with a part time job that required relevant skills or maybe a full time job that at least payed well and was flexible but quitting your job outright and jumping on the YT money bandwagon was a big mistake, say for example I do the same and then 10-20 years later everything dries up or I'm nowhere near popular anymore and make elss and less money than the average working joe then I've got nothing to fall back on when it comes to actual work outside of gaming and editing, most jobs outside of yt require up to date skills, recent job history and places you've worked, saying you had a partnetship/working for youtube does not get you into the high places let alone high paying comfortable jobs, that's just not how society works, if it did work that way we should all just work with YT and come out with no qualifications, no recent relevant exp high paying jobs, Joe has basically shot himself in the foot with this move he made years ago and it;s obvious now he needs more and more money and needs to demand things to adhere to his will rather than simply accepting that he's made a few wrong mistakes in life.

If I were him I would definitely get a part time job, at least then he'll still have a good flow of money from both YT and his part time job and still be able to game and stream, there are plenty of people on YT who already work both part and full time jobs, Joe can certainly do this and isn't disabled or not able to in any way.

Yeah I agree in seeing how when he goes without a review for ages and then suddenly one of these type of vids come up, he cries and stirs the pot in a big way now he's more known, TB and Jim sterling go straight into defence mode and tweet signal boost for him and then he egts more views on his angry rant vid rather than the other recent content and he rakes in the revenue, rinse and repeat.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Well I must say one thing: the revenue he made by posting these angry rants has probably made up for anything that he "lost" lol. Well played AJ

That's all it boils down to. He is protecting his bottom dollar yet he is screaming at Nintendo for trying to protect theirs. Its the ultimate in hypocrisy. There is no noble purpose like he claims.

I'm not a fan of somebody acting another youtuber this hard for the sake of proving a point. Do you really have to curse at another youtuber to make your point? This whole thing could have been done angry but without being disrespectful. This guy mentions that AJ gets a bunch of kids subscribed to him angry because Nintendo did him wrong, but if the video was untouched, all those kids would get a positive impression out of the video, maybe even convince a few parents to get the Wii U. This guy is acting like the real child.

As for AJ, He should have seen it coming but why Nintendo is hunting down on Let's Plays is beyond me, seriously. They are getting fucking pocket change from these videos. The Mario Party 10 video gathered at most $200, what the fuck does that do for Nintendo other than get a large sum of people angry at them. Granted, Nintendo is in the right to do this and AJ admits it, but still it makes no sense for a company to not want "free" promotion and coverage from a group of people having fun with the title made from a game that was legitimately purchased. Nintendo already made their money when AJ bought the console, games and accessories, why does Nintendo want more?

Can anybody seriously explain why Nintendo acts this way? Although they are probably in the right to take it down, why would you want negative publicity on yourself over some fucking pocket change. EDIT: The youtube gaming community is valuable with how much momentum they can bring to a title

They aren't protecting anything.  They just want 100% control of what goes out on the internet about their games.  Let's see, Sony gave people a button to share their games freely.  Nintendo demands you join some stupid partnership to allow your vids to stay up.  Which company is benefiting the most from their policies towards gamers?  Here's a hint.  It sure as hell ain't Nintendo.  And if you people continue to blindly stick up for them, especially when it's a poor policy, the NX will be a Wii U 2.

Not for Joe there isn't; Joe is too big to be affected. However I do know of smaller Nintendo youtubers like Dazran303 who probably are affected by Nintendo's policy. Daz has not uploaded a video in 4 months, which may or may not be related to this. A few months before that he started into PC gaming as well and now I think he may be Twitch only (possibly related? Maybe). The content creator ends up getting only 10% of the ad revenue for the video they recorded, edited, and uploaded (YouTube takes 50%, Nintendo takes 40%, taxes on top of that). What will happen to the small channels? Nintendo should be garnering community support, not capitalizing on a medium no other company does.

Of course, just my opinion
