- games are priced lower ⇒⇒⇒ What does this even mean???

Im not even going to bother reading an article that i already know is biased :-/

That's probably the easiest thing to understand. 3DS games are priced lower than other platforms. Publishers get less $/sale, so there's incentive to go on other platforms.

Terrible argument. 3ds games also cost WAY less to develop and sell similar numbers to console games.

Square-Enix hasn't helped Nintendo that much this gen, not even on the 3DS. Theaterhythm? Get the shit outta here (from a market POV), where's like a mainline DQ game or real Final Fantasy games?

Square-Enix support hadn't been horrible

Dragon Quest Monsters

Dragon Quest Monsters 2

Dragon Quest VII

Dragon Quest X

Final Fantasy Theatrhythm

Theatrhythm: Curtain Call

Dragon Quest Theatrhythm

Final Fantasy Explorers

Heroes of Ruin

Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance

Bravely Default

Bravely Second

That's pretty decent support from a single company, ya it probably pales in comparison to DS but still solid nontheless, the only thing it's really missing is Dragon Quest XI and a Final Fantasy remake or two.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

3DS best planning is behind us.

That console has had some amazing years, with FE, Pokemon XY, Zelda, Bravely Default, Animal Crossing, Mario and Luigi releasing the same year (in Europe). And previously Mario 3D Land, Mario kart 7, Kid Icarus and Paper Mario.

I am fine with the 3DS having now some Smash Bros here, Pokemon ORAS there with some Majora remake.... There are also the next FE, Bravely Second, and things like STEAM (from FE devs) and Monster Hunter for people who like that.

The 3DS has already given me what I wanted.

Not really. It's not like it requires a lot less money to developer Monster Hunter 4 than it did Monster Hunter tri.

"there have been a total of 3 games announced that I didn't already know were coming"

That's confusing but even if you know the game was coming, what does it change.

When I decide whether or not to buy a console, I look at the games it already has that interest me, and the games announced for the future. Then there's a third factor. Upcoming games in the future that are not yet announced, but that we can expect. For example, if after only two years on the market a console has 15 or so games released or announced that interest you, you wouldn't expect it to release or announce 0 new games in the years after that that interest you, right? (Extreme example.)
And in this case in particular I was comparing it a bit to the DS, and my expectations based on that as I found so so many games on that system that interested me.

So basically what I was saying here was, when I purchased the console, what it already had out and what was known to be on the way was looking very good to me. But after that, I was surprised at the pace it continued.

you also have to make up your mind if you're talking about general releases or only the ones that interest you. the 3ds is getting a good amount of releases and western localizations considering it's over 4 years old.

I'm mostly talking about me, though even in general it appears to get less releases than what would be expected in the past few years, for a system with so many units sold. There are even games being made that could be put on the console, but are skipping it. For example, Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is being released for every system including the Vita, but not the 3DS, where the first game in the series originated. That seems odd.

But the thread's title talks about games in general, not just the one's you like. can't really answer why there aren't many games you like being made.

I think it's pretty much the same, since MH tri was a wii original.

I would say Third-Party games don't sell on Nintendo hardware.

Yes, because there has been a decline in the number of games comign out for it for quite a while now. And while I'm mentioning subjective views, this is also about the issue in general, as they're usually correlated.
I want to hear what people think both from a general standpoint, and from their own experience. Or they can even comment on my taste if they want. It's not that complicated. Just say whatever you want on the subject. If you read some of the other replies in the thread, you'll get the idea.

In that case, I have an answer: the 3ds is 4 years old. It's natural to have a decline in releases and we'll probably have a 3ds successor next year.
