Forums - Sony - Should Sony have pushed PS3 exclusives to PS4?

Dont think so, cancelling ps3 version woud have been a waste of money and recources. X86 and cell iare different architecture and ps4 requires to programm a lot more for the gpu

PS4 was selling out until April so the decision to keep the games on PS3 didn't effect the short term success of the PS4 console.

Don't copy random editorials.

God of War: Ascension, Gran Turismo 6 and Puppeteer should have been Vita games.
Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus, Beyond: Two Souls and The Last of Us should have been PS3 games.
PS4 had Knack and Killzone: Shadow Fall as launch games. This is enough imo.

Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus would have been a much better fit for a handheld than God of War: Ascension or Gran Turismo 6.

I think one of the reasons ps4 is doing so well is the promise of the first party, if you look at the later years of the ps3 it had alot of different types of games they may not have sold well but they'er there. So I dont think taking them and moving them to ps4 would be a good idea except maybe GT6 but that whole franchise needs to be better handled.

For launch titles I believe The Last of Us could have made an impressive splash if it would have been pushed back and worked on for the PS4. But otherwise I think the current course of events is pretty ok.

The PS2 was successful because Sony always support their older machine, the PS3 was successful because Sony always support their older machine, the PS4 is successful because Sony always support their older machine and Sony are successful because console fans know that Sony always support their older machines. In short: No, Sony should continue to do what makes them the market leader.

This.

I only agree about GT6. It should have a PS4 game, not a launch title but at least announced with the console.

GT6 damaged the series imo.

Many argue that it was actually GT5 that damaged the series. Its protracted development time and delays were made even worse by the fact that when it did eventually come out, it's competitors(namely Forza) had surpassed it in many areas and even contained features that Gran Turismo did not have.

Agreed.  GT5 started the decay of the franchise.

Polyphony lost a great opportunity to use the time they had and work on the issues of the game.

But into the nexus is on vita.....

Some people have complained that the PS4 had to few first party exclusives when it launched in November 2013.

Should Sony have left their old console with only one exclusive instead of releasing God of War: Ascension, The Last of Us, Puppeteer, Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus, Beyond: Two Souls and Gran Turismo 6 on PS3?

The Last of Us and GoW obviously not. TLOU achieved 7,000,000 sales and a year later sold another few million on PS4. GoW Ascension was never gonna sell well, it's a prequel.

But Puppeteer, GT6 and Beyond definitely needed to be cross gen games.
