Forums - Gaming - Hypothetically, If Banjo Kazooie Were A DLC Character in SSBU/3DS...

I don't think MS would do it out of kindness, it would be a business move.

Just letting them put in Banjo Kazooie is a business move.

~A Character in the most popular fighting franchise

~Free Promotion

~Could potentially move more Nintendo fans to get X1 if a BK3 is actual good.

~VC release for Nintendo for BanjoKazooie/Tooie (helps both companies here)

How many people played characters they like in SSB then at least tried to play a game they are from? Not everyone but probably a good amount :)

I did say upstir interest. Ya know the new pacman games, while multi plat, are definitely aimed Nintendo audience. Also, Pac Man and Megaman both have solid potential to appear Nintendo consoles. Does Banjo? As for the others... Would Bayo be appropriate for Smash tbone? Shovel knight!? What is his relevance to Nintendo vs the many other indy guys?

Shovel Knight is number 1 but no is complaining about that.

I think there is some BS this reads more like a "screw MS, i dont want anything they do to touch Ninty" not saying your post in particular.

Now to your actual point. You cant call the game a commercial and then cherry pick two characters and ignore the other characters who dont or havent had a release in years. OR not even that relevant to Nintendo. Its a either fanservice or a commercial. And it doesnt matter if they change the look to match recent games, it makes sense to do that. Other game series update looks all the time

1. Is this a screw MS post? ..... ABSOLUTELY. MS is console manufacturer. They are the owners of Rare. They are the owners of Banjo. They do something relevant with Banjo. Not Nintendo. Why Should Nintendo do something relevant for an IP that will serve them no benefit in the future? On top of that BEFORE the actual IP owner does? Why?

2. I did not cherry pick those 2. They were picked specifically because it is known without a doubt that they were included to promote their new release. Users in this thread are acting like can not or has not used to promote interest in new release or old IPs. I thought that was well known! Of course that is not the point of game but can it be used for that... Has it been used for that? YES!!! That is the point im making.

What separates smash from other games in updating the looks of characters is that smash wil only do it with a new release. Aka. Ganondorf, pit, fox designs didnt change because they have not been featured in any new games.

1. but thats just it, it ISNT relevant. Its ONE character being put in a fighting game with like 40 other characters. People need to relax, if hes in the game Ninty isnt going to loose money and that doesnt mean people will buy the next Banoj(if there is one in droves) Personally i rather have an additional character than none at all.

2. Cause maybe its not promoting anything or trying to spur interest in some imaginary game that may or may not be made. Its fanservice, it just them saying hey guys remember him/her. Again its a fighting game, its not like these characters really represent the game they are from anyway, so no i dont agree that it s a commercial. Unless they start doing what they did with the Brawl and you can play various games for a few minutes from different series, now that is advertisment but even then that was more for VC

still doesnt really prove anything. Hell the Pacman they used wasnt even the Pacman from the last few games. Or Solid Snake was for that matter. Or Sonic. They changed Duck Hunt dog and he hasnt appeared in anything for a while.

snake in brawl was okay, when mgs was exclusive to ps. didnt see anyone complain with that.

MGS was exclusive to PS in some ways but no, MGS1 was remade exclusively on the Gamecube in 2004. So yeah, they had attachments with Nintendo.

Duck Hunt dog is exactly as Pitt was. These characters have not been seen since the 8bit days, so the developers had to image what they would look like, not only as 3D models, but in the modern times. Fox also had the same treatment, not to the same extent. His brawl/4 form doesnt represent anything, just what they feel he would look like if he advanced with new releases. Solid Snake model was from MGS2, the last time we seen Solid Snake.Make sense.  Sonic model was changed to reflect his current Lost World look, with stage to boot. (Sonic has very subtle changes every game. No 3D Sonic model is the same). Minus those characters. Every character in brawl uses the design from latest appearance.

But now were going off topic. Your first 2 points dont really address my previous post... Sooo.

True, there was also GB games as well, but blah. Snake was in because Kojima and Sakurai are good friends.

Banjo, had attachments to nintendo too!

Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Ps4:110million

Xbox one :75 million( was 65)

Wii u: 20 milliion

They won't do it, because it would promote a series Nintendo no longer has the rights to. They'd be paying to advertise Microsofts games.

Nintendo and MS should just strike a deal.

Nintendo agrees to port its iOS/Android titles to Windows Phone (DeNA can do it).

Nintendo gets Banjo-Kazooie, GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, Killer Instinct, Conker, etc. on Virtual Console. MS also gets rights to then put GoldenEye on their XBLA service.

Minecraft for both home and portable NX platforms.

Halo Online, Banjo-Kazooie, and other Rare IP for portable NX only. MS doesn't have a dedicated portable, so it's not direct competition, any more than Halo on PC is competition for the XBox. MS has made products for Nintendo portables in the past ... Banjo-Pilot, Viva Pinata, Halo DS was even demoed at one point.

It may help MS more than Nintendo since Banjo would finally get the love and appreciation it deserves, but also kinda leave a bad taste in peoples' mouths since it would take Smash Bros to finally give the bear and bird their proper respect.

Banjo is an integral part of nintendo history. micorsoft would get free advertising (albeit for a relatively inactive franchise), nintendo would sell lots of DLC for including a fan-favorite character. its a win win, but it requires both companies to work together. another potential that I don't know if many people have noticed is that there really aren't any western video game characters in smash... diddy kong was created by rare (UK) but it was already part of an eastern franchise.. i really would like that barrier to be broken
