Oh no, no, Smash bros definitely is a commercial. its ability to promote upcoming releases or upstir interest in dormant IP's has not been ignored by Nintendo. Notice how character designs and roster is always updated to reflect most recent releases.

Banjo is not relevant to Nintendo. They dont "need" him. As MS holds to license to banjo, he never will be. Banjo is barely relevant to MS.

SSB is most definitely not a commercial, its nintendo history. If you were correct an d i were wrong, it would of been something like

Take out: Duck Hunt Dog/Megaman/Little Mac/Pacman/WiiFitTrainer/etc

Add In: Bayonetta/WonderRed/Dillon/Elma/Shovel Knight/etc.

This isnt PSASBR, like at all

Just to be clear - You are denying that Nintendo uses Smash to promote upcoming release. So lucas, Snake, and Roy were not added to promote upcoming releases?

Im not saying that is ALL smash is made for, but the is it one its uses? definitely.

I dont know why Snake is on that list at all, but as for Roy/Lucas. They are the only 2 characters, there are more characters put into SSB for Nintendo History/Fanservice/etc than Just those 2.

If it were to promote games like you suggest, you think they would put in Bayo/WonderRed/ShovelKnight before DuckHunt/Megaman/Pacman

Edit: Here is an example, is MK8 a game to promote Cars? Of course not though Mercedes dlc was in the game for that purpose

Also the profits from selling DLC. Banjo DLC should sell pretty well for them.

Any character would sell well. And I´m not sure if most Wii U owners remember Banjo.

Well they're doing a vote for it. If he doesn't do well in the vote he won't be added anyway and if he does do well then obviously there are plenty of Wii U owners that do remember him.

to add what you said, ofc its fanservice. If any character would sell well, then this entire vote is fanservice so who cares if the only thing banjo adds is fan service

Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Ps4:110million

Xbox one :75 million( was 65)

Wii u: 20 milliion

I did say upstir interest. Ya know the new pacman games, while multi plat, are definitely aimed Nintendo audience. Also, Pac Man and Megaman both have solid potential to appear Nintendo consoles. Does Banjo? As for the others... Would Bayo be appropriate for Smash tbone? Shovel knight!? What is his relevance to Nintendo vs the many other indy guys?

You keep mentioning console wars. This has nothing to do console wars. Console wars do not exist to console manufacturers. Yuji Naka was friends with tons of Nintendo employees, even at the height of SEGA vs Nintendo. Nintendo fans consider FF7 switch a back stab... Sakaguchi and team remained friends with Nintendo employees.

This is stupid business choice. This is like BK advertising the big mac in one their meal promotions. A business should never create a bridge to competitor products, no matter how big or small it may seem.

But it exists to fans and it exists to public perception of the industry. Doing this would blatantly show those fans how stupid it is, and be better PR than a few nice tweets back and forth ever could.

It's absolutely not a stupid business choice. Banjo is relevant to Nintendo's history, and it's relevant to his IP owner. Smash Bros. Is a video game first. This isn't a commercial; it's a video game.

THIS why people cant understand this i cant fathom. Let the whole console war thing go for just a few seconds

Shovel Knight is number 1 but no is complaining about that.

I think there is some BS this reads more like a "screw MS, i dont want anything they do to touch Ninty" not saying your post in particular.

Now to your actual point. You cant call the game a commercial and then cherry pick two characters and ignore the other characters who dont or havent had a release in years. OR not even that relevant to Nintendo. Its a either fanservice or a commercial. And it doesnt matter if they change the look to match recent games, it makes sense to do that. Other game series update looks all the time

I don't think MS would do it out of kindness, it would be a business move.

1. Is this a screw MS post? ..... ABSOLUTELY. MS is console manufacturer. They are the owners of Rare. They are the owners of Banjo. They do something relevant with Banjo. Not Nintendo. Why Should Nintendo do something relevant for an IP that will serve them no benefit in the future? On top of that BEFORE the actual IP owner does? Why?

2. I did not cherry pick those 2. They were picked specifically because it is known without a doubt that they were included to promote their new release. Users in this thread are acting like can not or has not used to promote interest in new release or old IPs. I thought that was well known! Of course that is not the point of game but can it be used for that... Has it been used for that? YES!!! That is the point im making.

What separates smash from other games in updating the looks of characters is that smash wil only do it with a new release. Aka. Ganondorf, pit, fox designs didnt change because they have not been featured in any new games.

1. It wouldn't help either more. MS gets "advertisement," and Nintendo gets a fan favorite in their game. People act like Nintendo would be doing MS a favor or something.

2. I think that it would unit at least Nintendo and Xbox super fans, and show that console wars don't matter with a virtual hand shake.

Yeah a few of the comments I've been reading on this and the other thread make it seem like Banjo is going to be some sort of huge game that pushes a bunch of consoles or something. I think it makes sense for Nintendo to get Banjo personally. Heck maybe ask MS to make a game on the 3DS (would probably sell better there than Xbox One )
