1. Doesn't change the fact that it's a dick move

2. Has that been confirmed? we don't know yet as far as I know, and either way what KingdomHeartsFan says it's true. Assuming there are no physical deals for both games (meaning it's only throw DLC) then some people will have to buy an extra SD card.

3. Wrong. Nintendo words from the direct: (not literal but close) "The world and the characters are the same, the Hoshiro path is like a traditional FE game, and the Norh path has a slightly (emphasis here) more complex story and more challenging." Nothing else was said. Sure, battles will be completely different, but that's probably it.

I highly doubt Nintendo will pull this shit on the West, the backslash will be HUGE.

1. It doesn't effect you, only japanese and i doubt they care as much when looking at that price (full game is 6600 yen, about avg for games and its 2)

2. Ok buy an SD card, every game takes memory

3. The games will be very different, battles being completely different means its a different game. Sooo?

4. If they did, the backlash wouldnt be huge at all, and they make even more sales if anything

3. Completely different was probably the wrong word. We need to see how it ends up, but hey for what we know, it could simple be the same battle in both games, just that you take one side in one and viceversa. But either way, now that I think about it, Nintendo said themselves both games will have the same characters, meaning that they will most likely play the same way in both version, so in the end it will be just a different map and different enemies. Since the characters are the same, the core mechanics of the battle will be similar or basically the same.

4. How will Nintendo advertise this madness?

"Hey guys Reggie here, that new FE game has 2 different stories, they are absolutely different, like you won't BELIEVE how different they are. Go and buy both games if you want the full experience bye!". I can't think of a single game in the west that has pulled something like this, all games either have branching paths (like this game should) or minor things like in Pokemon where very few people actually care about the differences.

First of all, it will affect us, in that we are also likely to have to buy the third episode that they are planning down the line. Secondly, it doesn't matter if it doesn't affect us and only Japan. They're also fans just like us, and don't deserve to be shafted.

Now, to the subject.
Fire Emblem: Awakening launched at ¥ 4,937 ($41.2) in Japan. This game, along with the second version as DLC, costs 6600 ($55.1). If you want the third version as well, then we're up at 8404 ($70.2). Unless you're unlucky and maxed out your SD card and have to buy the Premium version of the game with all three versions, which costs 9250 ($77.3).

So $41 for the full main story in Fire Emblem: Awakening, and $70 - $77 for the full main story of Fire Emblem: IF.
I think they're going to notice.

Did Nintendo gave a hunch that they are planning to release a 3rd game? Nothing on the NA direct as far as I remember.

But if that does happen in the end then...f*ck u Nintendo.

Yes. Not just a hunch. It will happen.

In Japan, the game will be released as two titles, Fire Emblem If: White Kingdom and Fire Emblem If: Black Kingdom, for 4,700 yen each. If you buy one verison, you’ll be able to purchase the other for 1,852 yen as downloadable content game. A large part three is also planned for release at the same price somewhere down the line. A limited edition version of the game including all three scenarios will be available for 9,250 yen.

Well that settles it. I'm not supporting this crap.

If something like this happens in the west then I will buy a single version. If the story is truly really good, then for the other 2, I will wait for the 3DS to be pirated and play there. If that never happens, then I will watch a playthrough on youtube.

We know literally nothing about how all of this will work outside of Japan and very little about what this all means inside Japan and people are already getting in a huff.

Seems a little ridiculous to me...

Hm....I also assumed it was going to be one game. I'll reserve judgment until more information comes out, if the stories are distinct enough than I'd likely care less. I just hope it'd be more like the Zelda Oracle games if this happened...as opposed to say, splitting up the Sacred Stones paths into two games.

Either way, I'm sure I'll buy every story. I'm just that much of an FE fan X.X

That's what I'm saying.  We know pricing details, and that both of them are Fire Emblem if, but we really don't know that much else.

And those talking about SD cards, most 3DS games wouldn't fill up the SD card that quickly to begin with.

To me this seems very strange.

An odd business decision but I agree that we should reserve our judgment until we have more details. However I can't help but find myself emotionally uninterested with this subject because it doesn't affect me or my interest in this game.

.- -... -.-. -..

I need better pictures of the boxarts.

Way to send back to its grave. Seriously, this Direct showed to much Nintendo wrongness.
