Forums - Nintendo - FE x SMT shown at N Direct

I'm super psyched for this. I love Persona, and I love Fire Emblem even more. It's true it doesn't look much like the typical FE setting....but honestly I don't care that much. It's not like we're not getting a new Fire Emblem game, so why complain? The way I see it, a game like this has a much better chance of drawing in the SMT/Persona audience than an FE game with Persona characters. On top of that, if the FE references are profound enough, it could draw a wider audience to those games.

Now to wait for more infos @_@

Yeah, besides the scene of the ruined city, it doesn't look anything like the SMT series, which is notoriously dark. Nor does the artwork. The overworld resembles a mix of Persona 5/Catherine and Yakuza. But with SMT in the title, I also expected something further from Persona, and closer to the darker more fantasy like SMT. Also because it seems like a closer match to the FE world.
I think a SMT world is probably out the window at this point, but perhaps you'll be able to travel to a vastly different Fire Emblem world. There's no sign of it yet, but it's possible.

But I'd be happy with whichever they went for. Persona or SMT. WiiU need these type of games. And on a personal note, I'm more excited about this taking place in Shibuya. This is new to me as a fan of the series since I have yet to play P5.

Especially with how the teaser ended with that ominous shot of the city. This is completely different in tone from that. Once the director mentioned "pegasus in modern Tokyo," I was 100% sure that we'd be seeing Shibuya and Building 109. It just seemed obvious. But like... JPop? Seriously? Ugh, I dunno. The whole thing just gels so weird to me. With Hyrule Warriors, it looks like an obvious cross over. This looks like a completely different franchise with no influences from either thing it's crossing over. And it doesn't even seem to capture the spirit of either series. I don't know how to feel about it, yet I know I'm buying it. At least we'll know if it's good this winter.

I'm kind of surprised at how negative people have been at SMT x FE. However, I guess I'm biased since I do enjoy games like Persona. I've grown up with anime and stuff, so I guess that's natural.

This game is to FE what Persona is to SMT...

It all makes sense! Nintendo hired Atlus to make a spin off franchise to FE! Which appeals to a completely different audience from the mother franchise, and will eventually overtake the original in popularity and sales even though the original is (probably) better! It will be so different that it will eventually stop being considered a spin off and be recognized as a fully independent franchise! Those geniuses...

That game is taking direction that are completely diverse from what most people imagined.... and I think that´s a great thing.

It seems that the gameplay will be SMT(Persona) style and not FE at all. Now I´m curious about what will be the role of FE characters in that game. I don´t think they will be just a "substitute" for demons/personas. The trailers shows a few scenes that suggest that they will somehow be part of the story.

The art style catchs my eye. Now I´m hyped

Sex doesn't look that... weird.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Looking at the gameplay, it literally looks nothing like SMT gameplay aside from being turn based. Look at the top. There's this active "round" based system. It looks like Child of Light, not SMT.
