Forums - Gaming - Give your reason as to why remasters are good/bad

I'm the guy that bus the exact same game for multiple consoles (ie: three versions of tomb raider). I'm not one to speak. Carry on, thread.

Lazy remasters are bad because they are money grabs and an excuse to keep backwards compatibility of consoles. Collections are fine, but single games are lazy. I consider MCC a real remaster where there was some effort put in, also it was amazing value, not to mention it spans nearly 14 years across 3 consoles.

Narly 8-10 years should have passed before we get a remaster, where you can at least notice the changes.

Laziness is releasing a broken product in order to get the upper hand against a competitor which Halo MCC was.

Aww you seem upset, oh well I would rather them be too ambitious than make a lazy port we have seen over and over again.

Broken and all and it was still miles better than the remasters we have seen.

There have been far too many, and more are on their way.I can´t remember any other generation where so many remasters were released, and they´re all games from the previous gen, the jump isn´t very big...might as well do it with older PS2 era games that really could use the treatment.

so? Remasters arent something new when the playstation and sega saturn launched they got tons of stuff from the arcades, laser disc games and other CD CGI games as well as PC ports like myst. Games who allready exist back then on more powerfull platforms but werent possible on consoles like the snes. Today remasters are rereleased because they werent possible on a certain resolution and framerate. Where is really the difference?

You know some games were 1080p 60fps last gen as well...

Ports are not the same as remasters. If the WiiU got a GTAV Remaster, then I would say fair enough. Why? Because its never been on Nintendo console...

Like books, films, music etc. always comes out for an ever ageing audience. Every year a couple of million small children become console playing kids and a couple of million kids become adults. ...and a couple of million adults get time/money/interest to play games. They maybe do not have time/money/interest to get all the old console, all the original games. For all these groups this remastered game that they never played but may have heard a lot about is a new experience.

Lets be honest here , this thread was made because GOW3 will get a remaster

btw does that character from killer instinct have a trailer ? when will they do cinder?

Of course it was, though i dont think The Order is what people want. Bloodborne on the other hand looks amazing and im super excited to pick it up in a few days.

I assume you're talking about Hisako the ghost girl?  They did a stream with her a few days ago but said that her trailer is delayed until next week so they can add some effects to Cinder's teaser which will be at the end of the trailer.

Here is Hisako's ultra and stage ultra though.

TBH, i thought the last of us, and tomb raider remastered were way too early, they should atleast be 5 years old to have a remaster!

many of these arcade games were ported on snes and megadrive but were rereleased  on playstation to have arcade perfect games like street fighter 2. There were rarly games at 1080p and 60fps in 7th gen, ridge racer 5 is one of the view. Most games were also just upscaled and couldnt even hit 720p

I'm with Train wreck, here. I'd rather have a very good remaster of a single game than a remastered collection that is rushed and broken.

I don't have anything against remasters in general (though full remakes are much more worthwhile imo)

But I think there's such a thing as too much of anything, and so far this gen we are getting too many remasters. Most of which are incredibly lazy at that

They were rare because most developers put graphics over gameplay and performance.
