Forums - Gaming - Gaming Outlook is Strong for 2015

Can we stop listing sports games (including MLB), Forza, COD, and AC as reasons for a particular year being strong or in any listwars? They come out every year they really don't need mentioned at this point as they're givens.

That being said this is looking to be one my favorite PS4 years already since I've already enjoyed the heck out of the Order, will be LOVING Ratchet and Clank when it comes, and Dying Light looks right up my alley. Not to mention all the digital stuff coming down the pipe.

Then there's the great 3rd parties. MGS5 is of course at the top of that list for me, but the Witcher 3 will be filling up my Summer and the gap until Batman which I will totally platinum as long as there's no stupid MP trophies which I don't bother with. Battlefront MIGHT be great but I have to see gameplay. I'm hoping it's not like Battlefield despite all reports indicating that's the case.

On the WiiU side, with Uncharted delayed I'm putting Zelda on my Xmas list in its place. Not a bad substitute. Star Fox I've gotta see something for but if it's a modern Starfox 64 I'm all for that (preferably with more content).

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem could be a system seller depending on how well the game is made. :)

I want to believe.

This stopped being about big sellers the moment you put Windows 10 and Ori in the list :P

So you really should add pretty much all the Wii U exclusive titles of note. Mario Party 10, Splatoon, Mario Maker, Yoshi's Wooly World, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Devil's Third, Star Fox, and The Legend of Zelda. Heck toss in Kirby and the Rainbow Curse for good measure :P.

Thanks, Onionberry, for adding a bit of reality to that list.  They may not be the OP's bag, but your list better represents the value of the WiiU going into 2015.  Let's not forget, the combination of several pieces of lower tier software can equal the power of a higher tier piece of software.  In this case the trifecta of Splatoon, Xenoblade Chronicles X, and Mario Maker I believe amount to the pursuasive power of a Zelda.  Who knows, they may even put their own dent in Zelda system sells, since people will already have purchased a WiiU to play those awesome games.

If the PS4 hits 40m by years end I'll eat my hat

I'm only adding games that are considered "huge" that will boost sales. Games that are not multiplatform.

I would certainly say that Ratchet and Clank is a staple to the Playstation fanbase.

10 years ago...Doesn't really make it relevant now. We'll see how the movie goes. Might rejuvenate the series. Or it might be another Mars Needs Moms.

40 million PS4 and 25 million One by year's end? That's asking a whole lot, the One would need to be up by about 100% or more yoy and the PS4 would need over 40% as well, and it has been either flat or slightlty down so far yoy (I'm not expecting that to last but I'd say that 20% increase yoy is the max realistic growth for the PS4 this year).
