i'm tired of this "anyone who doesn't play nintendo games is insecure about their masculinity" conspiracy. it's old now.

OT: no, there is zero chance of this happening.

Nice.

But really, it's not just Nintendo games. You won't see a casual CoD player going around trying out LittleBigPlanet or Ori & The Blind Forest, and there's a reason for that. Many gamers are very insecure about what they play and how people perceive them, and they think that they will be accepted as long as they play generic kill sprees.

nintendo should market this better, i don't think anyone other than hardcore games in forums and maybe youtube know about this game's existence.

Nah, there's no blood, no military porn, and you can't yell racial slurs over the mic. ;)

No, I don't. At all.

As polished as the moment-to-moment gameplay is in Call of Duty games, that's not what keeps bringing people back to each successive installment. It's the system built around it, and the ecosystem it supports, that keeps it selling year after year.

As it stands, Splatoon shouldn't be compared to CoD. A better comparison would be Titanfall. Except that Titanfall had an almost unhealthy level of hype and exposure, while Splatoon...

Lol, no.

Make it more than 8 players give it the depth and content of an online FPS and it may turn a few heads.

Nope

To be fair, that's the case with most games. Only super hyped games like Watch Dogs or Destiny are marketed/talked about outside of forums for months (sometimes years) before release. As long as they put out good commercials, display it at retailers, provide demos and maybe special deals, it should be fine. It seems like it's getting a pretty big push though, considering they're (probably) making a new line of amiibo specifically for it and they always have it available to play at gaming conventions.

This is one of the games this year that I really want to see succeed. I want developers to look at Splatoon and think "Hm, instead of making CoD Clone #458, we can try out something different like that one squid game." Not to say that realistic shooters don't have their place in the industry, but there needs to be more diversity than what we have at the moment.

After watching that clip...

Ahhhhhhhh ha ha ha ha ha... NO.

Military shooter fanatics I have no real understanding of, since I am not at all interested in military shooters. But I have enough of a idea of what it might be about military shooters that gets the fanatics hooked. And based on that short clip Splatoon has nothing to attract the interest of military shooter fanatics.

PvZ Garden Warfare is a much better game for trying to attract shooter fanatics to a more lighthearted type of multiplayer shooter-style game, and look how that sold on the actual platforms that have all the military shooter fanatics in residence. It's sold OK, but not at the level of the most popular military shooters.

The fact that these shooter fanatics would also have to go out and buy a Wii U, if they haven't got a Wii U already it means buying a Wii U just for this one game and for no other game in the forseeable future, creates a huge barrier for entry even if a lot of shooter fanatics do develop somewhat of an interest in this game.

It looks like it will be a fun game. But it's not a game that is designed to appeal to the military shooter fanatics, and so it won't appeal to these gamers.

Of course not, it is a Nintendo game :P

It is an interesting twist to a shooting game, but I highly doubt that this game will cause people to buy Wii Us just for this...

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

I think Devils Third would do that more than splatoon but with both of them combined it might reel in some, maybe even get some people to buy a wii u :P
