HAHAHAHAHA! I have to admit that was pretty funny Specially the part where you mixed the word "RPG" and "The World Ends With You" on the same sentence.

But seriously, that game needs a sequel.

Is it a survival horror the? It kinda makes sense cause you had to survive and those noise creatures were pretty horrible.

It's a survival horror action role playing game. With crossdressing simulation elements.

Now I know why i liked it so much, I even bought the iOS version and hated myself for playing a mobile game.

And yeah, Child of Light proves that turn based RPG aren't slow, boring or outdated.

It probably had to adapt to more modern conventions. Looks at Metal Gear Solid 4, it dropped it's traditional top-down view in favor of a more Western third-person behind the shoulder view point and a controllable camera via the right analog stick. Since console gaming in Japan is declining it makes sense to cater toward Western audiences considering they now represent the vast majority of the market... Turn based RPG's haven't been popular in the West since the end of the PS2...

I prefer action rpgs. I feel like I'm in more control of what's going on instead of just waiting for my damage to come in.

Oh really?

Persona 4 Golden: Meta score 93 (user score 92) http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-vita/persona-4-golden
Child of Light: Meta score 82 (user score 80) http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/child-of-light
South Park: The Stick of Truth: Meta score 85 (user score 84) http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-3/south-park-the-stick-of-truth
XCOM: Enemy Unknown (Kinda RPGish): Meta score 89 (user score 81) http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/xcom-enemy-unknown
Lost Odyssey: Meta Score 78 (user score 83) http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/lost-odyssey
Valkyria Chronicles: Meta score 86 (user score 87) http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-3/valkyria-chronicles
Wasteland 2: Meta score 81 (user score 73) http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/wasteland-2

Just a few examples of turn based RPGs being received very well in the west...

How did those games actually sell though? I would think FFXV would need to sell at least 6-7 million copies to make a decent profit(just a guess) given how long it has been in development and the production values....

You sound disappointed, Ka-pi!

Valkyria is very turn based though. Not in the sense as those other games. It turns to a third person shooter (which is far more action-y than FF15) once your "turn" arrives. XCOM is also a strecth (but at least you acknowledge it).

A better example would have been Bravely Default, but even that wasn't super popular.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Don't be. Action RPGs are still awesome. Look at Dark Souls!

Doesn't that just mean that Square Enix spent way too much time and money on graphics than any sane company would have? If a game has to sell 6-7m to make a profit then it had better be called GTA, COD or FIFA.

Definitely!!! It is outrageous how long it has taken and certainly their own fault. Much like The Last Guardian, Duke Nukem Forever, Chinese Democracy(the album) etc. I do feel that the 'hack and slash' real time combat decision was predictated on catering to Western audiences but that is just a theory. I think if it were turn-based it might not be as appealing as a real time combat system... For better or worse..

I really hope it sales amazingly but I really don't think it will turn a big profit. I don't think the profit will warrant the time, effort and labor that this game required... It very well could be the last major Final Fantasy we see on consoles but I hope that is not the case.

its called action RPG.

Also keep in mind this game started as a spin off, non numbered Final Fantasy.
