I never paid attention to Fire Emblem so i have no idea what DLC tactics they used on that game. But I can say that the only game I have seen them use shitty practices on is Mario Golf. Which had more than half the game locked in DLC at Launch. Other than that, I really don't think they have done bad practices. Mario Kart 8 was clearly developed after the game was finished, and very reasonable price. Pikmin was fine. The amiibo DLC does kind of suck, but as I said, Marth would not be in this game with out these figures. So, I do not feel this is a bad practice in this game. Plus, you can use these figure for skins and uses in many games. I have yet to see a game that I think Nintendo cut content out of a game for these figures. It sucks they cost $13, but your paying for a physical figure, of course it'll cost more than a normal character DLC.

Though Mario Golf had Day 1 DLC, they were not game locked.. You had to download the DLC from the eShop.

That was a bit confusing that they made them download. It was pretty evident that atleast most of them were done by the time they printed the games. I guess they wanted to avoid the anger of on disc DLC practise. They sadly had to use up our blocks. Which wouldn't matter for me though, I have 16GB to use. I do have the game, but I'm not very impressed, so I don't see any DLC in my future.

Yeah, I used to be strongly against DLC, but now, I find it okay.

However, Day 1 DLC really irritates me since basically they are saying: 'you can buy a semicomplete game for full price.. Even though we have completed this additional content already before launch, you have to buy it for more"

Day 1 DLC shows that they are truly trying to squeeze as much money as possible

The demo is amazing. The game is amazing. But sadly I want to save my money for Xeno X and Splatoon and all the other great games coming out this year. I'll get it when I have the money for it.

Nahh! Due to Canadian dollar being nonsense, I am only going to buy the ones that I really need to which is a lot in 2015!

Hasn't changed the price of games though. Been 5 bucks more than the US for the average game for ages. As a fellow Canadian, I very much intend to get it, perhaps not day one, but very soon, after getting the New 3DS.

Well it hasn't yet but it will soon enough which will affect most games and when it does, $60 games which are already $70 will be $75 for consoles and I am sure the handheld games prices will also be going up so I have to keep in mind all the spending that I will have to do throughout the year and not just when it releases. And of course, when you add the tax, it just goes to nonsense ville completely

Doubt it. Our prices have been the same for years. Even when our doollar was doing far better and oours was higher than the US it made no difference. Even when it has been much lower it still didn't change.

It has consistently be 5 bucks more for a long time, not including taxes oof course.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

Depends on the reviews, if they're really good, then yes.

Yes, I played the demo and thought it was really good (As was to be expected from an Intelligent Systems game)

Oh yeah, I love both fire emblem and advance wars. Not sure about day one though, I've been trying to get through some of my backlogged games lately.

Lol what? No it hasn't been the same for years... Early last year, the prices for games went up $5-$10 due to the weak dollar... Do you even know what the dollar is at right now? Its at 0.79 cad to 1 US... That is super low hence the price increase and it has been low for over a year now and the price is going up even further from $70-$75 for console games and handheld will probably get the same treatment since it was $40 for handheld games in 2013 and in 2014, it was $45 and now, it will probably be even more. And all that is excluding taxes

Are you sure you even live in Canada cause you should have noticed the price hike easily

Mario Golf was acceptable because they dropped the price of the game, and still gave you as much content in the retail game as all the previous games. If you wanted to double the amount of game you got, you could pay 45$ which makes it essentially only 5$ more than a normal 3DS game with double the amount of content from the previous Mario Golf games (which is a great value). This model was totally fine with me because they are giving you a discount on the normal game price and saying "if you like the game enough to want more, you can pay for it" while introducing less risk into the initial purchase. This is exactly what Evolve should have done to counteract its DLC practices.

PS: This was more me just jumping into the conversation than arguing with either you or chris

Perhaps there are regional differences. Yes, I am quite sure I live in Canada. Born and raised. In my area there has been no price hike on games or consoles. Although, with that said, the prices around here have always been slightly higher than the US. On a 60 dollar game, it's generally $65 instead, and for consoles it's generally about $50 bucks more. For indie games it varies, generally it's around that 5 to 10 percent extra.

the prices shown on that article are what they are now. The prices as far as i noticed haven't changed since the release of the Wii U. Before that I hadn't bought too manygames, perhaps it was during that time of parity that I missed out on lol. I always remember them being an extra 5-10 with the exception of when I was quite young.

Yes, it is roughly at 80 cents. Much better than the 60ish cents int the early 2000's. Almost everything stuck from those low point worth till now, even when the dollar was at $1.10is. Like I said though, there was atime when I had other worries than video games so it might have changed during that time.

As I said, I doubt it though. The dollar has been in much worse shape than it is right now and it hasn't exceeded the prices we are seeing now.

Well, whether or not the dollar has been in worse shape before the year 2000 doesn't really change the fact that the game prices have gone really up and it certainly hasn't been the same for "years" unless ur not including 2014 for some reason... Cause heres the thing, for many years, we have enjoyed the games being very similarly priced to the US... If a game is $60 in the US, then it is $60 here, if its $40 in the US, then it is $40 here. Ever since 2014, virtually every game that has been $60 in the US is currently $65-$70 here and that includes wiiU games...

https://www.ebgames.ca/Wii%20U/Games/715239/super-smash-bros

Now idk which part of Canada does prices like that before 2014 that exclude taxes but they shouldn't be allowed to but the fact of the matter is, where I live which is in Vancouver BC, until 2014, the prices have been about the same as they were in the US before taxes and not $5 or $10 higher. And if you havn't noticed the price hike in games due to you missing games, that is a lot of games being missed cause it was the same for over 7 years

And heres the thing, I really don't care whether or not the dollar has been in worse shape because that didn't affect me. What does affect me is that the dollar is in a worse shape now than it had been in a very long time and all these years, I enjoyed buying games at similar prices to the US but now, I have to pay $5-$10 and soon $15 more than $60 depending on the game.

And I don't understand what you are doubting... There is clear proof that through out Canada, the prices of games have gone up and are going up... Just because the place you live in had it like that before doesn't mean that the majority of Canada did as well and I gave you proof showing exactly that...
