Mario Golf was acceptable because they dropped the price of the game, and still gave you as much content in the retail game as all the previous games. If you wanted to double the amount of game you got, you could pay 45$ which makes it essentially only 5$ more than a normal 3DS game with double the amount of content from the previous Mario Golf games (which is a great value). This model was totally fine with me because they are giving you a discount on the normal game price and saying "if you like the game enough to want more, you can pay for it" while introducing less risk into the initial purchase. This is exactly what Evolve should have done to counteract its DLC practices.
