Perhaps there are regional differences. Yes, I am quite sure I live in Canada. Born and raised. In my area there has been no price hike on games or consoles. Although, with that said, the prices around here have always been slightly higher than the US. On a 60 dollar game, it's generally $65 instead, and for consoles it's generally about $50 bucks more. For indie games it varies, generally it's around that 5 to 10 percent extra. the prices shown on that article are what they are now. The prices as far as i noticed haven't changed since the release of the Wii U. Before that I hadn't bought too manygames, perhaps it was during that time of parity that I missed out on lol. I always remember them being an extra 5-10 with the exception of when I was quite young. Yes, it is roughly at 80 cents. Much better than the 60ish cents int the early 2000's. Almost everything stuck from those low point worth till now, even when the dollar was at $1.10is. Like I said though, there was atime when I had other worries than video games so it might have changed during that time. As I said, I doubt it though. The dollar has been in much worse shape than it is right now and it hasn't exceeded the prices we are seeing now. |
Well, whether or not the dollar has been in worse shape before the year 2000 doesn't really change the fact that the game prices have gone really up and it certainly hasn't been the same for "years" unless ur not including 2014 for some reason... Cause heres the thing, for many years, we have enjoyed the games being very similarly priced to the US... If a game is $60 in the US, then it is $60 here, if its $40 in the US, then it is $40 here. Ever since 2014, virtually every game that has been $60 in the US is currently $65-$70 here and that includes wiiU games...

Now idk which part of Canada does prices like that before 2014 that exclude taxes but they shouldn't be allowed to but the fact of the matter is, where I live which is in Vancouver BC, until 2014, the prices have been about the same as they were in the US before taxes and not $5 or $10 higher. And if you havn't noticed the price hike in games due to you missing games, that is a lot of games being missed cause it was the same for over 7 years
And heres the thing, I really don't care whether or not the dollar has been in worse shape because that didn't affect me. What does affect me is that the dollar is in a worse shape now than it had been in a very long time and all these years, I enjoyed buying games at similar prices to the US but now, I have to pay $5-$10 and soon $15 more than $60 depending on the game.
And I don't understand what you are doubting... There is clear proof that through out Canada, the prices of games have gone up and are going up... Just because the place you live in had it like that before doesn't mean that the majority of Canada did as well and I gave you proof showing exactly that...
