As far as putting Sony on top, that was really a 3 man effort from Shu, Kaz, and Cerny.

Good for him and Cerny. They seem like good people and they did their home work this gen.

Not fabricated, more like they made use of his growing profile, what got the ball rollling was his twitter account , he used it to chat about gaming and soon found himself answering broader questions and has more followers appeared  he in his own words " became a defacto spokesman" .something that he didn't set out to do but his position made him in hindsight an ideal spokesman, rather him than some pr guy who doesn't know or understand the fuller picture.

The article is one that we see many times , some one  writing about a subject with little to no research ,if they had done their job properly they would understand that during the main faze of the PS4's development cycle Shu was doing what he's still doing heading  swws , not overseeing the PS4 as well , since  Cerny headed the PS4 project.

All I take from this is because he has a media profile and is seen a lot on stage promoting PS4 and oversees studios like Naughty dog ,some  people like this reporter look at that and jump to the conclusion that he is the mastermind behind the Ps4's success.
