@the people who think that cerny deserves more credit,
it was shu who greenlighted cerny to design the architecture of the ps4.

Thats just smart bussiness.

Cerny has done good things for him in the past.

Shu bet on cerny, back when doing so wouldnt be that costly.

Bet paided off big time.

Everytime he put his faith in cerny, he delivered.

Honestly the guy that does the work, deserves more praise than the guy that goes.... "ok, you there go do the work, now".

No one compare Yoshida and Iwata!

Yoshida is very charismatic, down to earth and in touch with the buisness.

Iwata has zero charisma (Nintendo Directs are cringeworthy.), and out of touch.

Shuhei Yoshida seems like a cool and likable guy, but I feel like they give him a little too much credit, especially the PS4. It seems to me that the PS4 is being praised for doing the safest things, such as a standard more powerful system with some extra features, and no DRM, which should be a standard. I think it benefited more that MS blundered so badly with the XB1, and Ninten messed up with their unique feature, poor marketing, and lack of power compared to the other 2. I don`t think that is very great to be honest. Also, I don`t like how suddenly people are so positive with sony and the PS4 when they had a terrible time in the previous gen for a good while. Everything is forgiven and they`re liked again after one rough last generation? Alright then... Well, the same thing is happening with Ninten (Great Wii success. Now doomed to fail due to the Wii U) I don`t know, I`d divide the praise to Cerny, Andrew, or other big names than just Shuhei. I will give him credit for helping indies get a rise in the industry.

I don't think "suddenly people are positive with sony". They did have a terrible release last generation, but Sony did a lot of things to earn back the consumer's trust. I think the positivity is a mixture of doing all the things the developers/consumers wanted with PS4 as well as having a growing momentum with their brand at the end of PS3's life cycle.

Nintendo, comparably, did the opposite. It was huge out the gate, but the company didn't do enough to keep their audience and then the Wii U came out and didn't deliver the experiences/technology that the dwindling Wii users wanted. Even though it was the best selling console of it's generation, Wii's annual sales were well below X360 and PS3 the last few years showing the interest/brand-loyalty was fading.

I think this is a good thing. Blind brand-loyalty doesn't keep the companies competitive. If a company can do so many things to regain the trust of the consumer, they deserver all the positivity they can get. I say this not as a fan of companies, but because I enjoy gaming and technology.

Great guy!

I think the difference between the Wii and the PS3 was that the Wii saw success at the start, which Nintendo and other companies worked to provide as much as they could with the Wii until they eventually exhausted it, while the PS3 took awhile to get its momentum. The Wii slowing down was just a natural progression of doing as much as they could with the console until they used up all their ideas. PS3's biggest strides looked to be towards the end of its life cycle.

I still can't give the PS4 a lot of praise for essentially doing the most standard and safest thing this generation. Now if they did something like the Wii, I would give them props. I do give my props for Nintendo for trying something new again, even if it didn't work out for them.

"I still can't give the PS4 a lot of praise for essentially doing the most standard and safest thing this generation. "

Risk isnt always worth it.
Wii U gamepad is Risky, its new and innovative.

Guess what? I dont care. I dislike holding it in my hands, compaired to a normal controller.

PS4 was well designed, thats basically why its winning this gen.

"Now if they did something like the Wii, I would give them props."

Im giveing Nintendo flack for their design choices. I think they shit the bed, when they decided to go with the gamepad for the Wii U.

I believe nintendo would be selling better if it had kept the same motion controllers the Wii had, or just a normal Controller.

The game pad made the Wii U too expensive compaired to its performance, relative to their competition.

Its why its in this mess this gen (I think).

Taking a risk doesn't always guarantee, yes, but it worked for the Wii, and it didn't work for the Wii U. Not everyone will like the gamepad, but it did try something new, and does have potential to do new and different things with the it, and I respect that. Also, I don't agree with it being too expensive. Ninten has made deals where you get quite a bit from the console.

Hearing that he has nine-year-old twins at the age of 50 makes me feel better for having a four year old at the age of almost 43. And it's nice to see that VGChartz got a shout out in the article. It's good to see that he's seen the mistakes made with the PS3 and is moving forward with the PS4. This can only be a good thing.

I thought this was a Mark Cerny article

me too.

”Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”

Harriet Tubman.

Would be true, if this lasts till the end of next gen too.
