Forums - Nintendo - Why Nintendo still doesn't have a trophy/achievement system to their games in 2015?

Predict When Ninty will bring trophies:

2016-2017, after their next consoles arrive. 60 22.73%

2025, better late. 17 6.44%

Nevah! 101 38.26%

Idc for this BS. (dont lie to yourself) 86 32.58%

Total:264

I think there's some other issues waaaay more important than this when they plan their next console. You' guys are giving trophies/achievements too much credit.

If I can earn GamerScore on a Windows Phone (and tons of 'em for free, in fact), why hasn't the Windows Phone platform taken off (relative to iOS and Android)?

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

:3

priorities.

I don't care about achievents but having them wouldn't hurt. I'm more upset that services like RAPTR don't track my games or playtime. I'm not sure who's fault that is though.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

I love how some people (again) just post that the Wii U would sell tons more just because of something they do like.
Achievement/Trophy hunters are a mere minority among gamers and while it is pretty prominent and "in your face" on the Xbox (PS is a little more discreet) it's still just 0.x% of gamers who actually care what's popping up every now and then (based on players on major leaderboards vs console sales). If that's (+0.x%) what the Wii U needs in sales to be successful and you believe it can be developed with magic and no working time, then yeah, Nintendo needs it.
People who do not own a Wii U definitely don't understand what's going on with the stamps and Miiverse integration in games. They may only learn now that MS is trying to do similar things bringing more social stuff with their monthly updates.

Because then people would complain that it's too hard to get the equivalent of 1,000 Gamerscore/Platinum Trophy.

If you need achievements in every game you play, you should think about why you are even playing games in the first place. You are pretty much saying that you wouldn't be a gamer if there weren't any achievements.

You don't miss something before it exists. Did we miss analog sticks when we played NES in 1987? Did we miss rumble before the N64? Did we miss online gameplay before 2000?

Achievements are a standard part of the industry now and the majority of people like them. I'm 100% sure Nintendo will put them in on their next console.

I don't get some people saying it's irrelevant. The Wii u is missing more important features yes, but this is a system that many will enjoy thus making it relevant. And it will be an easy money spinner for Nintendo because you always get a small subset who actually buy extra games just for trophies.

It's too new for that. Next gen they will probably have achievement + online discount.

Because achievements mean nothing. Do you play games to enjoy them yourself, or to use them as social status insignias? I play games for my own enjoyment, and I am happy setting my own achievement targets, instead of being told to 'kill 1000 rabbits' or 'die 35 times in ultra hard mode'. Achievements are probably one of the things I am least interested in, and I have been playing games since King's Quest.

Achievements are in the games that actually benefit from them.

Global achievements only serve to lessen the meaning of the word, and represent everything that is wrong with today's youth.
