conclusion rockstar are fucking awesome

There are studios that you just know that their games will be masterpieces. Rockstar is one of them. Naughty Dog would be another. You cant go wrong with them.

We're getting old and we have seen it all. We need innovative franchises, new franchises. Nobody is exempt from this criticism. The game world needs something new. Those who are easily amazed will have nothing to say this gen. The way you think only shows maturity as a gamer.

This is why story driven games are becoming more in demand. Gameplay-wise there is nothing new under the sun, or very litte left by way of true innovation. So how do you introduce freshnessa and variety into games? Tell a compelling story. A compelling story won't mask crap gameplay design, but it will lead to acceptance of derivative but well crafted gameplay. Perhaps VR / AR(Hololens) will bring about a new wave of genuine innovation in gameplay, but I doubt either will achieve the sort of market penetration in the gaming area to really act as a platform for AAA game progression.

Nice one! Tell me another joke!

I don't dislike GTA or Rockstar games, because I don't play their games at all. But I do believe they're (together with Platinum Games and Naughty Dog) some of the most overrated developers by the online gaming community.

I don't HATE them, but after all these years, they still haven't topped GTA SA imo. Those first three games on PS2 felt fresh, fun and revolutionary. GTA5, while impressive as hell technically, didn't enthrall me like GTA SA did over a decade ago.

Imo, they need to ditch the engine (the original was arcade-like and goofy which made it more fun) and hire a better story writer. Above everything else, the story writing isn't up to par with the original trilogy.

Finally, someone said this. I was starting to lose faith in VGChartz.

While technically GTA V was the best console game this generation it still is a borefest. Better than IV, but still boring. Nothing beats SA, when it comes to the fun factor. Dudes, jumping out of a plane to hijack another plane and infiltrating a secret base to steal a jet pack? Awesome.

Read Dead Redemption was by far the best Rockstar game thos generation.

And why are they overrated?

Gta 5 is a masterpiece. The campaign is excellent but the online great too. I'm rank 92 now and I think things are priced fairly. After 1 month of playing it on ps4 I've made enough money to buy an apartment, entity almost fully customised and a buzzard chopper that cost a whopping 1.75m. If you suck at the game or are too impatient to earn the rewards you can always just buy a shark card for 15 quid. The game gives you so much hours of play time it's not even bad value for money buying them although I resisted the urge myself. I've almost gotten the platinum trophy so I disagree with you.

Can't wait for the next Rockstar game.

What do you mean lack of innovation? GTA5 was the most innovative game in the franchise...

No, just no. GTA 3 literally changed GAMING.

I think both are close. Personally, GTA3 did many things right, but was very bareboned when it came out. Vice City and San Andreas were the ones that build on the concept of GTA3, and made those series of games memorable. GTA5 just took GTA5 to the next level though in terms of social interactions and in-world activities available.

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

i think its a step back from the gtaIV DLCs. in every aspect. i hope they let us mod the game when it finaly releases.

i think gta has the same problem as TES. they had a too great game early on and everything after was downhill.
and the funy thing is,in both series it was number 3 that was just to great.
