Forums - Politics - Vaccination mediatic blitz

The measles has existed for generations. People would make sure their children had it early because it can be fatal in adults. Not always illogical and there are much more illogical reasons for forcing vaccines on people, such as greed. Another story is mentioned in the videos. The market for vaccines will spike to 57b$ by 2019.

http://www.wcax.com/story/28021113/vaccines-market-is-expected-to-reach-578-billion-by-2019-new-report-by-marketsandmarkets

It is fatal in children too.

"The disease remains one of the leading causes of death among young children globally, despite the availability of a safe and effective vaccine. Approximately 145 700 people died from measles in 2013 – mostly children under the age of 5."

"Most measles-related deaths are caused by complications associated with the disease. Complications are more common in children under the age of 5, or adults over the age of 20. The most serious complications include blindness, encephalitis (an infection that causes brain swelling), severe diarrhoea and related dehydration, ear infections, or severe respiratory infections such as pneumonia. Severe measles is more likely among poorly nourished young children, especially those with insufficient vitamin A, or whose immune systems have been weakened by HIV/AIDS or other diseases.

In populations with high levels of malnutrition and a lack of adequate health care, up to 10% of measles cases result in death. Women infected while pregnant are also at risk of severe complications and the pregnancy may end in miscarriage or preterm delivery."

5 Cases of Autism, if they can be directly attributed to the vaccine, is terrible, and is why we should continue to scrutinise the data and continue to strive for better vaccines.

145 700 deaths is........?

Yet the original decision was based largely on the initial fraudulent research.  They also site the interaction with his particular genetic mutation, I'm curious what that might be and whether that alone might explain his reaction to the vaccine.

Again, not stating that there are no adverse reactions to vaccines, there are, I've seen them first hand, but a single court decision still does nothing to counteract the existing weight of evidence, there's no new data presented here.

You have pitched this as a 'think twice before vaccinating your kids" piece, rather than what it is, a single unfortunate case where a court has ruled that a young child has probably had an unfortunate reaction to a vaccine.

I meant to pitch it more as a "Be attentive to what the media is bombarding you with", and also pointed out to the mad amount of money that pharmaceuticals are reaping from this mediatic blitz.

If a vaccine is legit, I'll disregard the manipulation and swallow the pill regardless. I'm anti-vaxx upto a point. My concern was mostly how things are being shoved down people's throats in terms of coverage and news pieces, and I still think that despite the excellent arguments being brought up in this thread against the concern, the issue of mediatic manipulation is still real.

Fair enough but then that critical thinking needs to be applied to both sides as the bombardment happens from both sides.

It's a question of who started yelling first. No one can remember but the only way to be heard now is by continuing to yell.

I am happy I live in a country where vaccination is mandatory, keeping my children safe from deadly diseases while they interact with hundreds of other kids on a daily basis in kindergarten and school.
You cannot enrol your child in either of those institutions without vaccination, and the refusal to vaccinate carries a substantial monetary fine at first, followed by removing kids away from negligent parents should the refusal continue.

However, as I live in a very popular tourist town frequented by millions of tourists (and hundreds of thousands of Americans) every year, it really is of great concern to know that there are people who would willingly choose to endanger others, akin to yelling Fire! in a crowded theater.

Less customers overall, yes. But instead of just getting to immunise each customer, which is quite cheap, you'd get to sell them antibiotics, anti-virals, and some medications in perpetuity.

With the number of cases so far being so low, and selling vaccines for all children, it would seem like they are making much more money vaccinating than not at least while the number of cases is low. Not to argue that preventive medicine is bad (far from it), but from a business perspective it's lucrative as can be.

mbers are a strong argument in favor of your side of the debate I concede. The argument I made though was to say that measles was at a point encouraged to be contracted sooner than later due to more risk of death in adulthood. Same for chicken pox, though chicken pox was very rare in adults. My mom got it during pregnancy.

At a point when there was no alternative.  You share a house with someone who has measles, you have an approximately 9/10 chance of catching it and according to the above statistics and in the appopriate conditions, 1/10 die.

Better early than late, perhaps, but at what cost and why now would we suffer that cost when there is an alternative?

The big question is why is there mercury in vaccines? I never really understood that

A quick google search gave me this:

Do vaccines contain harmful additives?

No. Some vaccines contain…

Formaldehyde
Formaldehyde may be used early in the manufacturing process to inactivate some viruses and toxins. Purification removes almost all of the formaldehyde. Formaldehyde occurs naturally in the human body and helps with metabolism. There is approximately ten times the amount of formaldehyde in a baby’s body at any time than there is in a vaccine.

Aluminum
Aluminum salts (aluminum hydroxide, aluminum phosphate, or potassium aluminum sulfate) are used as adjuvants, substances added to a vaccine to enhance and strenghten the immune system's response. Adjuvants used today make it possible to reduce the amount of antigens (parts of weak or dead viruses or bacteria) in a vaccine. Monitoring of vaccines over seven decades has proven adjuvants are safe. Aluminum is the most abundant element in the earth’s crust and is found in air, food and water. Aluminum is present in breast milk and infant formula in similar amounts as in vaccines.

Mercury
An ethyl mercury derivative call thimerosal is used as a preservative. No vaccine made in Canada since March 2001 for routine use in children contains thimerosal, with the exception of the influenza vaccine. DTaP, polio and Hib vaccines have not contained this preservative since 1997-98. The MMR vaccine used in Canada has never contained thimerosal.

Fortunately, there is - and many have provided this proof already in this thread

I particularly suggest you watch this youtube clip:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o65l1YAVaYc

I've read the link. Studies don't make it irrefutable. Question though, what do you do with the reported 5 cases of autism in the confidential GlaxoSmithKline report (the image I posted)?

*continues to watch youtube video*

The table also includes accidents that occurred after people had the vaccines, the yes or no in the column don't mean that it was caused by the vaccine. It's a huge report. Trying to take bits of data out without understanding can cause confusion. intentional or not the people citing the report have taken meaning that wasn't there.

Mercury (specifically the mercury based preservative thiomersal) was used to stop the growth of bacteria and fungi within vaccines. When your body breaks down thiomersal it forms ethylmercury, which is then also broken down and pushed out of your blood relatively quickly. This is all pretty much harmless.

A lot of the fear people had towards thiomersal was from not knowing the different between ethylmercury (C2H5Hg+) and methylmercury (CH3Hg+). The former is what broke down from the vaccine, the latter can be very toxic. Even then though, methylmercury is safe enough in small quantities. You can find it in fish.

Interestingly enough though, despite the FDA having not licensed the use of thiomersal in a children's vaccine (under 6) since 2001 (with exception to influenza), there has been so observable decrease in the number of children diagnose with autism ^^

Edit: Edited "change" to "decrease". Not sure how i type that wrong seeing as i was literally reading the CDC report while typing it...

Andrew Wakefield and his fraud... killing kids around the world since years.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MMR_vaccine_controversy

I hope Wakefield is happy now killing so much innocents with his faked results of claiming MMR is causing autism. We know at this point that no correlation can be made in scientific studies. And all because Wakefield wanted to make money with his snakeoil medicine.

Also, Measles killed 145,700 people in 2013 alone, or about 400 per day.

That is, however, a 75% decrease from 2000... thanks to, you guessed it, vaccination.

http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs286/en/

That's how many children per thousand are diagnosed with autism. As you can see, there's a more than 200% increase since 2000. Now I don't know why that is, but it has to be something.

well, i was vaccinated before this graph started, and my parents were vaccinated in the 50s, autism because of vaccinations doenst seem to be a good theory...
