I know what the answer you want is that it would be over the wii, and anyone sane could tell you that. In fact I know the goal you are trying to reach.
However that isn't how markets work, no way would device like PS4/PS3/Xbox360/XboxOne on launch be 250. Unless you release device like PS3 in the PS4 generation.

It would probably sell quite horribly. The reason being as at $250, the power would be on par with the Wii U as Sony could not afford to lose another several hundred per console. People would complain that it was massively underpowered while a few people on this site defended Sony's choice and the masses would migrate over to Xbox.
Now, it launched at $250 at the current specs than Sony would be bankrupt!

A $250 PS4 would have probably sold 18-20 million at launch alone. There's absolutely no doubt about that!

if they had doubled the ps+ price, should work to keep sony revenue.
and id say near 25M.
but 400 seems a lot better deal.
| gergroy said: King of a weird hypothetical, as a $250 ps4 probably wouldn't be anything like the $400 ps4 we have now. The wii came out that cheap because it incredibly underpowered, roughly the same as the GameCube. So assuming the same for the Sony, a $250 ps4 would be roughly the same as a PS3. If that was the case, and it didn't have a hook like the wii with motion controls, honestly I think it would have flopped... |
I'm so confused by your response lol He was asking a hypothetical question. All facts and things that have to obey reality go out the window, hence the'hypothetical' question. It would be the same PS4, exactly as it is, sold at $250 at launch. Hypotheticals are supposed to be fun. Way to suck all the fun out of it haha ;p Also everyone else getting into the 'financials' and why it would destroy Sony. Well DUH! That's why it's a hypothetical question. Take it for what it is lol
IF it did launch at $250.. shortages would still be happening today most likely. 25m+ if not more. Price is the deciding factor for most. If the X Box One launched at $500 (as it did) and the PS4 at $250, it would have been a slaughter more than it already is. Probably 25+ million to 7 ish million. Since the One would have lost quite a lot of sales to the $250 PS4.
lol, for every 1M sold, they lose $150M!!
sony would be begging people not to get it
Not much more.
