but I thought you can just make up for it in software and online subs? That's what people said during the holidays for X1 anyway (the AC bundle essentially made the console $250)

But why stop at that, lets compare PC gaming that costs $2000 to be at $250. (Please note, gaming PC don't all cost this much, but they can if you are willing to go nuts) Would console gaming be dead?

Sorry but it just doesn't work way. You can not just compare simply on price, unless you have identical products. Wii and PS4 are not identical. Different approaches to market, different core audience, different generation.
