Pretty underwhelming numbers all round. The PS4 down YOY (there are some reasonable explanations for that, but we'll have to wait and see how the "post-launch hype boost" one holds up in the coming months), the X1 barley up despite a $150 lower entry price, and the WiiU continues to be the WiiU.

I want to hear from the people who said that price is the main reason people decide for one console over the other.

Yeah that's quite a weighty drop for the PS4. Also the X1 is expected, wasn't there a time where it was full price again?

Overall pretty meh to uh-oh.

I am not the one saying that, but given the 40K difference in sales, it is quite plausible that a $50 cheaper XOne is holding its ground selling equally to PS4, but the first two weeks at price parity saw the sales drop off a cliff.

A 20K difference per week, followed by two weeks of equal sales is quite possible.

Also no way is Wii U catching the GameCube, the gap is widening as time goes on not shrinking. Yes the GCN was cheaper, but no one forced Nintendo to make such an expensive console and bet the farm on that controller. 

The PS2 turned into a monster in the coming months too

We'll see if the PS4 bounce back or if it will slip further behind the PS2's pace. It won't be able to keep up with Wii for the next while, Wii exploded with 432k it's 2nd Feb and 721k its 2nd March.

There are no good numbers here. I dont get why anyone is trying to spin this as positive for ANY of the consoles.

WiiU: Yeah an increase, but it is posting abysmal numbers month in month out.
ONE: An increase sure, but not a big enough one. Poor numbers.
PS4: Big drop regardless of the irrelevant nonsense about supply last year. This is the supposed "dominating" console of the gen and it is posting very mediocre numbers.

For comparison:

Wii, Jan 2008: 274k
PS3, Jan 2008: 269k
360, Jan 2007: 294k

This will be a much smaller gen than last gen in the US and probbaly globally. When are people going to accept this?

One of the worst January's ever? Possiby THE worst? I'd have to check, but it sure feels that way.

 A slow January after one of the biggest fire sales consoels ever seen, what a shock.  Irrelevent nonse is  "95% its the price"  lol well that actually applies well here.  Its 399 with not a single major exclusive.  Sure ill be a smaller gen, at wiius and X1 expence.  PS4 will dash past 100m with out a sweat.
