Also no way is Wii U catching the GameCube, the gap is widening as time goes on not shrinking. Yes the GCN was cheaper, but no one forced Nintendo to make such an expensive console and bet the farm on that controller.
The PS2 turned into a monster in the coming months too

We'll see if the PS4 bounce back or if it will slip further behind the PS2's pace. It won't be able to keep up with Wii for the next while, Wii exploded with 432k it's 2nd Feb and 721k its 2nd March.
