They also said the arm co-processor would handle downloads while you queue them from remote. This also didn't happen. But that's not a feature, only a power issue.

expand that thought?

i buy my game via the web store while i'm at work and they are downloaded and the patches are also downloaded by the time i get home.

They are but the apu is doing it and not the arm processor which means higher power consumption.

... go back to pre-release PS4 and look at what they promised, we should be there now and they should be expanding on that. Instead we arent even close to it yet and it doesnt look any closer than we did at launch.

Errrr, I'm not sure what you're talking about.

pre release this is what we were promised.

  • game DVR
  • share for videos and pictures
  • share play (allow your friend take the controller)
  • BC support via gakai (PlayStation now)
  • cross party chat
  • instant game resume
now what we have is
  • everything on that list except instant game resume
  • PlayStation vue (currently in closed beta)
  • dynamic themes
so I really don't know what you mean. could you kindly tell us all these features that were promised that they have not come close to giving?

playGo was promised and delivered.

digital pre-loading wasn't promised and delivered.

i forget if remote play was promised or not.  i feel like it was and it was also delivered and a far better experiense than anyone expected.

spotify is bringing with it background music and should be here shortly (yes, free too).

plex brings in DNLA capabilities too (yes, a free base user as well).

xbox's OS was just way behind ps4 when it launch.  maybe it will surpase it someday but to date ps4 is very competitive at market.   how anyone can say ps4 is behind xbox becasue it is getting "more frequent updates" is beyond me.   xbox still can't take a simple screenshot yet...

edit: and i'm not entirely sure i get the critisim of "instant game resume".  games suspend while i'm on the ps4 and i can go watch some netflix or browse the web.   that is the important suspend mode not the turn the system off suspend mode.  yeah, i'll take it but it soo much more important to me that i can suspend a game to start a party chat or look up some cheat on gamefaqs or just watch an episode of whatever and then come back.

then i'll file that under don't give a shit.  my games download  and patch while i'm away so i'm good.  OS update automatically download so all i have to do is accept the user agreement to install when i get home and i'm gaming again.  i'm good.

No, but is that important in 2015?  I have a lot of devices to play videos already - TV, Blu-ray player, Chromecast, so I can stream from PC/Laptop/Cell/tablets, my older consoles and older gadgets play those too, etc.  I don't use those features on my XB1.  So no, no PS4  doesn't have that and the question is do we really want the money we spend on video game companies to go towards making media Apps that everybody else makes?

I just don't get what people have against installing a bigger internal HDD and want external HDD support so much. Installing an internal in the PS4 literally takes 10 minutes of your time. If you want bigger space for media, why not use the Media Server that your PS4 picks up from your pc?

I'm one of the rare "install a bigger or better internal HDD" I guess. I prefer SSD's though. I don't need gigantic HDD space.

I never understood all these power consumption gripes. I mean, how much power does it really consume, about 1 kW to download the entire game, so about 0,15 Euro.

I think I can deal with that. And if someone really is stingy about 0,15 Euro, try downloading it at night when the eletricity is 50% cheaper. To imagine someone will spend €400 for a console and €50 for a game, then complain about €0,15 for electricity is insane.

From your previous sentence, it seemed to me like you were complaining.

If I misunderstood, I appologize to you. But there are still plenty of people who do such a thing.

as long as this can be disabled, yes that can be good.

If not i'd rather not get this, i'm already spammed by boxes telling me i'm connected/disconnected from the wifi.
