Is............is Nintendo learning?

Then again...I had that feeling during MK8 month..... they will go back to TRASH adverts until the next major thing - Splatoon?

They never marketed MK8 during prime time TV shows as far as I can recall though.

I think Nintendo may be learning that the whole "lets hunker down and only market towards kids and families on cartoon networks" strategy that they took basically out of fear was not the best way to go.

This isn't a great commercial, but for Nintendo it's an upgrade over what they were doing before. But yeah lets see if this lasts or if this is solely for the N3DS launch and they revert back to their old fashioned ways after this.

They advertised the hell out of SSB on Comedy Central all of last Oct-Dec.

Teens want to play Majora's Mask with GameCube graphics, according to Nintendo.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Really interesting that Nintendo is going after the millennial market. They do need serious inroads with that crowd, that's for sure.

Too bad Bayo 2 didn't receive this treatment, but kudos, Ninty!

They did the bulk of their advertising on toonami on Cartoon Network. They advertised like mad for a month on there.

Really? I'm not sure that would have been the best place to advertise a 3ds. Maybe Cartoon Network.

People are always ripping on Nintendo for having the majority of their advertising on kids networks, now that they are trying to broaden their appeal and advertise during adult programming, people are saying they should go back to kids networks.

This is ridiculous. I've seen Nintendo get picked apart for not advertising on more adult programming, and now that they are, people are criticizing them for doing it.

Everybody's a critic.

Yea because the 3ds doesn't really have games that people there would probably be interested. Now if they advertised X with the Wii U there then that would be a different story.

No. This is 100% the thinking they need to get away from completely. That's what they've been doing for the last 4 years to disastrous results.

They're not even getting the freaking kids audience even though they market heavily on kids networks. Kids are still choosing the iPhone/iPad, Nintendo needs to market themselves as a more contemporary, cooler brand than they are now (then kids even will respond to that, they want what older kids want, not something "mommy approved").

The 2 games advertised alongside New 3DS were Majora's Mask 3D and Monster Hunter 4. Majora's Mask is the darkest and most mature Zelda ever released, it is also a remaster of a 15 year old game, people in their 20s/30s could have some nostalgia for it if they played it back in the day on N64. Monster Hunter is not a game made for young children, it's rated Teen and is also a very hardcore game, something that can appeal to gamers in their 20s/30s.
