People don't want games; they want a brand.

Just saw the commercial! It was all right. They showed the black N3DS with Majora's Mask and trendy young folks playing it saying how good it is. It kinda reminds me of the advertising Sony did to make people believe PS4 is good.

And so Nintendo's marketing continues its upward trend. Now we wait and see if the Wii U's marketing will continue up. Mario Party 10 will be interesting to see where the marketing goes, given its aesthetics (although the "screw with your friends" mind set does appeal to a lot of older people I can think of. Splatoon, Xenoblade Chronicles X, and Devil's Third will be the real tests as well as Mario Maker. I'm betting Devil's Third will get something similar to the Bayo2 treatment, with very targeted advertising.

The amount of manipulation in this post is mindblowing. Just to set this straight - yes, Nintendo said they were going to get multiplat games, but that's all they ever did. It was only Reggie's words during the unveiling on their part, not a single action to back it up. They said they want multiplats and manufactured Wii U - an underpowered console not capable of running them the way they are designed to run. They didn't even try, so not a single thing has turned and later returned at any point. Seriously, you can't count Wii U as a valid attempt to get multiplats and expect to be treated seriously.



Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

People want third party games. They just don't want to pay $350 on a five-years-too-late-me-too platform that plays the exact same third party games with no notable new features on systems they already own.

Nintendo kinda didn't think that whole part of the equation through very well. I mean yeah great, Call of Duty in HD, finally on Nintendo. But why should I buy that if I already have a PS3 or 360? *crickets*

If the Wii U was a large generational leap over the PS3/360 and ran the games in 1080p or higher graphic fidelity or something, than yeah, but you have to have some reason for an upgrade. 

Can't rely on a controller gimmick to sell a platform all the time.
