People want third party games. They just don't want to pay $350 on a five-years-too-late-me-too platform that plays the exact same third party games with no notable new features on systems they already own.
Nintendo kinda didn't think that whole part of the equation through very well. I mean yeah great, Call of Duty in HD, finally on Nintendo. But why should I buy that if I already have a PS3 or 360? *crickets*
If the Wii U was a large generational leap over the PS3/360 and ran the games in 1080p or higher graphic fidelity or something, than yeah, but you have to have some reason for an upgrade.
Can't rely on a controller gimmick to sell a platform all the time.
