Animations in the reveal trailer don't look special to me. We never saw any of the character models from the front. Their asses and hair don't look special either. |
Not special indeed, but better nonetheless. Do a direct comparison. The character has more weight to him, look at each part of the body. It is easy to spot that more parts are moving and in more directions than the basic forward and backward. The animation are closer to the movement of a real person. Look at the movement of the shadow on the body and compare it to the latest footage. The quality of light reflection on the models.. the new models look pale in comparison.
We can compare the identecal parts of the models.
Nice signature btw.

After watching them simultaneously & side-by-side about 10 times I don't see it. Can you show me?
Newer battle animations also look pretty fluid, no worse than they looked two years ago. Character models look borderline painful in all footage, particularly the hair.

I'll try to make gifs later. Agreed to the battle animations.

That would be helpful, thanks. I'm not good at spotting this stuff.

The answer is a big YES! Happily, this is not a major gripe I have with the game so far!

I really struggle to understand this whole thing and it still feels like stepping into the twilight zone when coming to these threads. I have been recently trying to play Dragon age inquisition and one of the most off-putting things i have been trying to overlook are the character faces. They all look hideous. Yeah, they all have these shape, color and shine options but they look creepy and unatural to me, because they are trying to mimic realistic faces.
Xenoblade X doesnt waste time with that and gives us anime style faces that are way easier to look at. Maybe its because not everyone ever watched anime or ever played RPG's wich are stylised around it. It makes no sense to me. If, people said they dont have all the details a human face has, i can understand, but when people say they look bad, even in the case of cross having the evil eyes, i just cant agree or understand. They definitly do not look like the aberrations i see on dragon age, a game where this was never brought up as an issue.

It is just the XC faces in HD. They are the exact same art style. The only difference is the color pallet. |
Well, then the color pallete makes all the difference! The character designs of the original XC just look a way more appealing than any of the new ones.
I'm now filled with determination.
The original character design is good, but character model's face suck. The guy who made character models really lacks normal sense of beauty.Maybe he wants to get some recognition.

Really now? That's a first.
