Who knows, maybe that's what she is.

It's amazing that they've managed to make this game work on a 3DS at all with the only apparent drawbacks being muddy(er) textures and maybe shorter draw distance, but I definitely would not call them identical.

I would assume that people didn't complain about the Xenoblade faces because they were blocky and polygonal so you could tell that they looked that way due to hardware limitations. On the other hand XCX is on much better hardware and the faces look too weirdly perfectly smooth on the girls. It's to be expected as that's the style these guys have done since Xenosaga, but it doesn't make it any less off-putting. It's like Tomorrow Children without the explanation that they're all dolls. Then again, if they all turn out to be porcelain dolls brought to life then all is forgiven and it makes total sense.

They have experience with DKC: R 3D.
People are expecting way too much given the scenery views of the setting. That is the game's style. It could have been better if Nintendo really wanted them to have realistic faces, but it reminds us that the game needs style, not some FF15-esque detail.
The characters are clearly not the focus. Apparently, the developer is utilizing the resources to create a beautiful world / environments. With that said, the characters do look bad. As if they were created without care and attention. Bad art direction coupled with lack of small details that make the characters look alive and dynamic rather than dolls. Even the animations are basic, the models are lacking the proper count of "bones" to make a decent animations that are not floaty.
By the way, the characters models and animations, as they are right now, definitely don't live up to the reveal trailer. They were just better and more detailed. especially the animations.

It is just one flaw, nothing is perfect. I'm sure the game is going to be good.
Yes, I believe. They seem to belong to a game from 2008.
Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Animations in the reveal trailer don't look special to me. We never saw any of the character models from the front. Their asses and hair don't look special either.
Here is a quick link to compare their running animations. What do you think changed between Jan 2013 and June 2014?
