The characters are clearly not the focus. Apparently, the developer is utilizing the resources to create a beautiful world / environments. With that said, the characters do look bad. As if they were created without care and attention. Bad art direction coupled with lack of small details that make the characters look alive and dynamic rather than dolls. Even the animations are basic, the models are lacking the proper count of "bones" to make a decent animations that are not floaty.
By the way, the characters models and animations, as they are right now, definitely don't live up to the reveal trailer. They were just better and more detailed. especially the animations.

It is just one flaw, nothing is perfect. I'm sure the game is going to be good.
