Is Miyamoto devolping this game?
i didn't see anyone in this thread but the references to this being anything like a CoD is silly. if anything this is a team-based version of de blob. go around and paint your surroundings. the difference is this time you play with other people and another team is working against you.
honestly,. de blob was fun for about 2 hours and then felt like a chore to play. i see the same thing in splatoon. when i watch the videos half of the gameplay shown they guy isn't even interacting with the rest of the players on the map but just going around repainting territory. making players "slow as molasses" when on enemy territory is honestly a terrible gameplay choice as no one has fun with that kind of restriction.
and i have to laugh at anyone excited about a game hub. many games have one (mod nation racers comes to mind) and it's never been cool, unique, or innovative before. honestly,. game hubs feel like a chore to me pretty quick because it always makes it take longer to do whatever you want to do relative to just having an menu system. it adds an unnecessary loading screen and adds stupid amounts of time in transit to do simple tasks like changing a load out. i've never played a game where i had anything but negative opinions about them.
i agree with the guy that said that on any other system this would be viewed as a inexpensive dlc type game. a simple art style. few gameplay modes. a singular gameplay mechanic that is trying too hard to be unique. it looks "indie" to me and all the connotations that come along with that label.
now don't forget that i'm one of the biggest advocates of indie games on this site but hype is something i've ever seen for any indie game except maybe no man's sky. everyone else views indie as filler even if fun to play for a bit.

Wait, are you comparing a platform from THQ with a online shooter from Nintendo just because they both have color ink?
| MoHasanie said: There is very little hype. We are on a forum where Nintendo fans are the majority and I've only seen a few people hyped for it. |
True, none of the competitive shooter fans that I know have even mentioned Splatoon.

I think Miyamoto's apprentices are developing it. I don't know if he even is involved in the game as an assistant or other kind of support.
People saying this game isn't doing anything new have not once looked at a trailer for it. It's really that simple.
I'm hyped and will definately get it. It looks great. Having said that, I expect the game to do well, but I don't think it will attract a new audience to the Wii U or anything.

Wow! Have I just read the most biased post ever?
Couldn't you find anything else to criticize the game or you just ran out of ideas?
Jesus...

If a new IP of an underused genre on Nintendo platforms can't bring in new players, then nothing can!
I am a little bit hyped :) It looks extremly cool, but I never playd a paintball game :D
