Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Wii U drought 2K15, who is to blame this year?

Their is likely to be a Nintendo Direct later this month along with their quarterly fiscal report. Either of these events could give us release dates for upcoming titles.

Currently there are a few titles with tentative first half of 2015 dates like Yoshi's Woolly World, Mario Maker and Splatoon, plus the developers of Devil's Third recently said the game is close to being done. I would wait until the end of the month before saying their is a drought.

4 games for the first half of the wiiU's 3rd year is not acceptable.  The system should have more games than you can possibly play not a total number you can easily play.  How many retail wiiU games released in 2014 in America?  Give me a rough

Clearly u don't know what a software drought is, going multiple months without key software. Having 4-5, 1st/2nd party exclusives over a span of  6 months is not a drought

It's the systems 3rd year, people should have their expectations in check by now, we all know Wii U doesn't get 3rd party support meaning only 1st/2nd party exclusives.

Like I said, we need to wait until a Nintendo Direct/quarterly report before we claim a drought is happening.

Captain toad just launched in Europe and Aus/nzl. Kirby and the rainbow curse is already set in stone.

I'm confident that Yoshi Woolly World, Mario Party 10, Mario Vs Donkey Kong and Devil Third will arrive during the first half. Plus, Mario Maker and Splatoon a possibility.

It's not as bad as 2014, with Donkey Kong being the only title available for the majority of the first half.

2nd half will have Starfox, Zelda, Xenoblade Chronicles X and perhaps Animal Crossing U. I believe it will be a good year for Wii U gamer's.

This.

January is a horrible time to release ANYTHING, and Kirby comes out in February. Splatoon, Mario Maker, Yoshi's Woolly World, Mario Party 10, etc. are all likely coming in the 1st half of 2015 (one game a month). Star Fox, Zelda, Xenoblade Chronicles X and unannounced games to be revealed at E3 will fill out the 2nd half.

Is it possible (and likely) there will be some gaps? Sure. Regardless though, 2015 looks to be a much stronger year, in terms of steady first-party releases, compared to 2013 and 2014. So this thread is premature. At least wait until the first Nintendo Direct of the year before you complain that we're in for another drought. And even then, with the number of first-party games slated for this year already, it seems like an actual multi-month drought is very unlikely.

Dead Space 2 came out in January and it sold pretty well.

I blame snooty elitist gamers who wouldn't buy a 3rd party game on Wii U. If they did buy them then we'd still have them to this day. 3rd party devs and publishers would still be making games for Wii U if the games sold. Its really as simple as that.

Why would anyone want to buy an inferior version of a game just to support Nintendo? They're a company, not a charity.

Its the same reason why people would want to buy a inferior version of the PS4 or X1 version when the PC version is clearly superior. And to top it off it could be had on PC at a cheaper price and with free online. You can't tell me that Unity on PS4 or X1 were the definitive version of the game.

I blame you Train wreck, you should have bought a Wii U. If you bought a Wii U when Nintendo needed you the most maybe we would have third party support.

Thanks a lot Train wreck.

Supposedly he does own a Wii U, or at least owned one at some point.

In any case though, he has to take the blame.

Train wreck owning a Wii U? I say pics or didn't happen.

Doesn't look like there is a drought this year.

The start of 2015 is starting to look a lot like the start of 2014 (which looked a lot like the start of 2013) where the late winter early spring release schedule for Wii U games is sparse.

Who are we laying blame for this predicament this year?

I blame the cynical and cheating destiny!

He probably bought one when Nintendo was selling them at loss to sink the company.

as with every other failure with the WiiU, the blame is solely on nintendo
