For playing online, perhaps. But you can still have your typical non-online experiences which Nintendo still excells at better than any other. Games will just have to be imported now.

if brazils dont have jobs and money then no one could buy consoles in the first place. Sucks for nintendo fans in brazil but brazil has to do what it has to do, if nintendo is too cheap building a factory then thats the way it is. Protectionism always worked thats what for example the US economy is built on

their share will be simple taken by the ps3, xbox 360 and xbox 1 who are manufactered in brazil.

Official excuse is taxes... but that is as poor excuse.

XOne was basicaly cheaper than WiiU the whole Christmass season and it was relatively ease to find a cheaper PS4.

Im a brazilian nintendo fan.
Gaming here is treated as a cassino.
taxes are greater than alcohol and cigarretes.
Although, we still could buy some nintendo games for 180R$(70US$), and sometimes we found some games for 140R$ in promotions.
But is very easy to see the difference for others publishers. I got wii U rayman legends for 80R$. Batman, AC we can find for this price too(am talking about wii U version).
Lego games (lego batman, marvel, etc) we can find for 50R$(20US$), and lego city undercover(the only nintendo published lego game) i didnt found it for less than 180R$(70US$).
Also, no sings of amiibo, smash bros gamecube controler neither the adapter.
Also, we didnt have a brasilian eshop for buying digital games.(i use a canadian)
They didnt brought captain toad too.
These are very difficult times for brazilian nintendo fans.

Not at all. It doesn't matter, no one in Brazil buys these overpriced games, we always use the grey market. Nintendo games from lincesed distributors  costs 75 USD. We can't afford that, not even the official console.

There is no way Nintendo can actually compete in the market without local manufacturing, Microsoft does that, and we can buy an Official Xbox One for $440, against $700 of a Wii or $1250 for official PS4.

Sony was able to get competitive with the PS3 when it started production locally.

P.S: I am not a Xbox fan, I just like Halo from it first party library which I find pretty weak and repetitive.. But I own a One for Third Party titles, since its the most rentable console in Brazil.

The real reason is incompetence. As you said, XOne was cheaper during Christmass, and you can still find it for prices around R$1300 with one game, or even less sometime, which is not very different from the US prices.

They should do just like Sony did with the PS4 if they don't want to manufacture consoles here: just bring the games with good prices, people would import the console anyway.

It probably won't last for a long time, it already happened once when Gradiente was Nintendo's partner in Brazil (they exited in 2003 and came back in 2011, although there were a lot of retailers that kept selling Nintendo products during this time), but let's hope they do things right next time, just like MS did.

I am curious about one thing. We know Wii U and 3DS are region locked. How old Wii U and 3DS owners play games from now on?

As a Brazilian, all I can say is this:

Although taxes around here are ridiculous. Nintendo's excuses for leaving our market are just as ridiculous. The same taxes are not stopping Microsoft and Sony from translating their games to our language (Portuguese) and selling their consoles cheaper than Nintendo ones in the official market.

Nintendo never really took the Brazilian and the rest of Latin American market seriously. Even in their best times in Brazil, they only ollowed third party companies to sell their products here instead of having their own operation. During the 90s for example, you could buy a Genesis/Mega Drive for significantly less than a Snes.
