Anyone translate? Why?

Poor sales?

Official excuse is taxes... but that is as poor excuse.

XOne was basicaly cheaper than WiiU the whole Christmass season and it was relatively ease to find a cheaper PS4.

I am sure taxes may be part of it. But Poor sales and their failure to gain any traction there is the bigger reason.

Yes, it is both.

The biggest gaming brand in Brazil is Xbox, followed closely by PS. What we have from Nintendo gamers are reminiscent of the Snes era that love Nintendo Games.

And even those gamers, don't buy the products from these official sources, since they are sometimes twice as expensive as from alternatives.

Also parents in Brazil don't buy $700 machines for their kids, they give them a Wii or a Xbox 360, and they are happy with it.

P.S: In Brazil parents don't give a damm for ratings. If you are a 10+ years old kid in Brazil, you play whatever you want and no one cares.

I'm really baffled why Nintendo can't/won't take on BRIC countries well. You would think that they'd have an advantage being a lower-priced competitor with solid portable option

BRIC countries aren't big gaming markets though. India and Brazil are small, and China has too many rules and regulations. The only country from those 4 which could potentially be a big market is Russia, but right now their economy isn't doing too well.

They aren't big markets yet, but they definitely have the potential to become some of the biggest markets. If they do become big gaming markets then whoever has built up their reputation in that area the best will have a huge nostalgia advantage over everyone else (look at Sony in Europe).

That's funny. Brazil is not a big market, but the active gamming comunity here is bigger than any single European country individually.

That's a really good point actually. Based on their current strategies though, Nintendo and Microsoft will suffer most from this since they only focus on the biggest markets.

Well that's sucks. Any female Brazilian gamers out there want to marry me and live in the US and play all the Nintendo games you want? Brazilian women are so hot

Would you mind if it is a Brazilian shemale?

Shitty for Brazilian gamers.

That's strange to exit a huge market so quickly. I mean I know its a small console market, but it has a lot of potential.

not worth it; they won't sell enough consoles due to the price point. the average citizen in Brazil is much poorer than certain other places in the world where the Wii U is struggling. probably on each system sold they are making virtually no money. it's pointless

True but Brazil is growing and changing and people are getting wealthier. In a few years Nintendo will have to return there.

No, sorry. We are not.

Each year we pay more and more taxes.

Some of us are lucky to have a stable income, but the majority struggles.

Gaming in south america is so hard... And then people ask why piracy exists...

Piracy 4 life!

It was already hard to find games here at the right prices.

The taxes on videogames and software are two times the ones on their PC counterparts due to poor regulamentation.

Fuck this stupid government. :(

Are you able to buy from ebay or import from other sites?

Yes, we are.

But either way, most of the time the shipment is stuck in custom and you have to pay a 60% import tax direct to the mail office.

Games usually go through, but consoles are near impossible to get without paying extra.

Nintendo has its share of blame. The Xbox is manufactured locally, thus today the Xbox One is the hardware with the best price here.

Comparing: Xbox One (R$ 1,200 about $450,00 ), PS4 (bahhh R $ 2,999.00 about $1.100,00), Wii U (R $ 1.899,00 about $700,00 ).

Nintendo and Sony really dont care about Brazilian gamers !!!
