Forums - Sales - How many million sellers will current generation consoles have?

Currently the PS4 has 26 million sellers, the XB1 has 16 million sellers and the WiiU has 8 million sellers.
The safest bet would be to assume this ratio stays relatively consistant throughout the generation between the PS4 and XB1 because of how similar their libraries are.

The Wii U is tricky because with maybe one or two exceptions the only titles that have a chance to sell 1 million plus are first party titles so it really depends on how long Nintendo decides to support the Wii U
I would guess it will reach around 25.

However, the highest selling X360 game was 21.37 and that was kinect adventures. 19.24 was the PS3's highest seller being Grand Theft Auto V. The Wii's highest selling was Mario Kart 8 with 34.98 sold. (Not including Wii Sports which would actually be 82.34. The Wii also had two 30m sellers and four 20m sellers.

 

Not sure what the point of this thread is because just because a console has fewer million sellers does not mean it sold more software. (Yes I know you didn't state that)

The point is to see which console will have the most games which sell over 1 million. It doesn't have anything to do with how much the highest selling game on each console has sold.

Why? You do know that the wii U currently only has 8 million sellers. The Wii U only has like two games next year which can break 1 million. WHAT??? using the word "can", I'd say Xenoblade,mario party 10, splatoon, mario maker and yoshi CAN/probably will reach 1 million. Meanwhile, Zelda and star fox WILL reach 1 million. and there are more 2015/2016/2017 unknown releases from both nintendo and third parties that can easily do it.

Also, from current titles, donkey kong, lego city, pikmin 3, zombi u, hyrule warriors and bayonetta 2 should all reach 1 million.

Xenoblade is impossible, even the Wii game did not manage that.
Mario Party 10 could pass 1 million, but will be difficult.
Splatoon is impossible in 2015, you can compare it with Bayonetta 2 or Pikmin 3. But I guess all 3 games will reach sometime 1 million, but only Pikmin 3 in 2015.
Mario Maker will break 1 million.
Yoshi will not reach 1 million in 2015, I doubt it. Maybe in 2016 or 2017?

You are so wrong. Xenoblade Chronicles X WILL be a million seller, just you wait. Mario Party 10 is a definite 1 million + seler. Splatoon is no doubt oing to become a million seller. Mario Maker yes and Yoshi will make it to 1m. Seriously. I believe all the games that were stated will become 1m sellers. Plus, Hyrule Warriors is having amazing legs right now and will reach 1m before Pikmin 3.

Seing ps4 at 160M consoles 1.5B SW had like 350 million sellers, while ps3 at 85M HW have like 900M SW and like 250 million sellers and we saw the death of Mid-tier Games, concentration of sales on less games, milking annual franchise grow and pirating diminish I'll be bold and shot at the moon for 1.7B SW on 150M install base and 400 million sellers, how crazy am I?

so, you think the first game of a franchise will have the highest sales, even though the sucessor is better in every way, especially in marketing and thus, public awareness. and xenoblade could have easily achieved 1 million if nintendo hadn't underestimated it.

you can't predict how splatoon will do, since it is a new franchise and could do really high numbers if it catches on.
