I apologize if this has already been discussed before (I am fairly new to the site) but I thought this was worth discussing.
So it's already in the know that Hollywood is creating a film adaptation of the video game series Fatal Frame, with Samuel Hadida being its producer. What I'm wondering is if Nintendo is carefully strategizing this to work in their favor. In concept, they could use the movie's launch as a marketing campaign in itself to make Fatal Frame V sell far better than it would on its own, and perhaps sell a few Wii Us in the process.
The American public loves horror movies. Every time one is advertised, it is hyped to heaven and above, even if people know it's going to be bad. This could create an atmosphere for Fatal Frame V to succeed without having to do much on its own in terms of marketing. Just slap the game cover and launch date at the end of TV trailers; it would get people super excited. A horror movie based on a game series in which both launch on the same day? It's really a no-brainer.
What do you think? Is Nintendo waiting in the shadows for the right moment to localize? Do they have any intention of doing so at all? Do you think the movie would even help at all?

On a side note, I think that bundling Fatal Frame IV with the game (similar to Bayonetta 1+2) would also help move some units, seeing as that game was never localized because Nintendo didn't feel right with its quality. They could just port it over with slightly more polish to fit Nintendo's liking, and then that's another reason for people to make the investment.
