Huh? Are you saying Sony doesn't know based on your psn id which consoles you own? They could easily tell who is only using it for PS4, PS3, Vita or using any combination of these 3.

Suppose, i doubt they would ever release any info on how they believed there subs to break down into platforms. I think its safe to say PS4 requiring it to play online, is by far the biggest reason for the massive increase in subs tho,

Sony didnt fight MS huge deals in the US as much as the UK, and allowed MS to do some major damage. This is an open market as either console has a shot.

Seeing when only ps3 and Vita was around the subs were under 2M and now it is like 11M is quite safe to assume 9M is due to Ps4 even if a lot of those 9M have ps3 and/or Vita as well.

Given this I bet XB1 has been overtracked outside the US as well. Europe and/or ROW is probably being overestimated in general.

Does these news mean PS4 is down YOY when comparing the same timeframe (middle of november through end of year)? Last year, between november 15th and december 28th, they sold 4.2 million. I know this generation had an historically massive launch, but still.

Your sub is not attached to anything. neither does Sony care of you subbed for one platform or the other. As long as you pay $50 every year they are happy. 

However, Sony can tell who is using what though and there are many ways they track that info. down to where and how your friends list appears, which trophies you're getting, what you're downloading..... etc. 

Its kinda obvious though that the sub jump is exclusively tied to the PS4. Being that it has gone up from 2M before its launch to 11M now. And weekday you said about so many ways to get a sub, hope you are not confusing a basic psn account for PS+
